Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 17/2

Good sport continues on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery with more settled weather expected.

The upper Match Lake saw anglers taking good bags of Carp and Silvers more especially from deeper water pegs.

Catch of the week was undoubtedly a superb Crucian Carp caught by Kingsbridge rod Richard Clarkson which tipped the scales at 5lbs 8oz! The current British record stands at 4lbs 9oz and the Fishery is awaiting official confirmation of the catch from Anglers Mail!
During the same session Clarkson also banked 9 Carp, the best a fine Ghostie of 12lbs 2oz.
All the fish fell to sweetcorn or luncheon meat offered by the inflow from peg 7.

Once again Roddy Metcalf found the fish during several short visits Carp falling to pellet offered mid depth and some good Skimmers taking maggot and castor.

On the Specimen Lake the first Catfish of the year hit the bank!

Town Parks regular Mark Warren fished a green lime/choc hellraiser boilie from peg 16 when he connected with the fish just after sunrise. Warren immediately realised the fish was a Cat so let the fish tire itself out before bringing it to the net.The fish tipped the scales at 19lbs 2oz!

Town Parks Fishery regular Mark Warren fished from peg 16 and realised the run was a Catfish. Warren battled the fish, which took a green lime/choc hellraiser boilie, for over 15 minutes to bring the fish to the net!

Regular Matt Feakes fished peg 9 whilst fishing partner Steve Jones set up his newly acquired rods and reels on the next peg. As he rested the rods on his pod and returned to his car to collect bait his alarm screamed off and Feakes had to play the fish to the net!
It turned out that the previous owner had left a boilie on the hair which the fish took from six inches in front of the peg!!!

Town Parks regular Matt Feakes banked this fine condition Mirror Carp from peg 8. The fish took a boilie form six inches in front of the peg after the bait was dropped in before casting!!

Plymouth rod Dennis Assall visited peg 4 for the first time in 15 years! Fishing a Cell dumbbell popped up with dayglow corn, Assall ended the session banking a double figure Common.

Dave Grylls fished from 10 and had a couple of runs eventually banking a double figure Mirror.

Dave Grylls fished form peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this double figure Mirror Carp.

The Winter maintenance programme is well underway. The large willow tree behind peg 7 on the Specimen Lake has been felled due to Health and Safety concerns. Once felled it transpired that the tree was rotten throughout the centre!!

The banks behind pegs 1 to 6 on the Match Lake are also being cleared to remove any snags when casting.

The seating area outside the shop is due to be completed by Easter.
