Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 30/9

The top Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery provided excellent sport for anglers. Carp came to the bank in numbers taking baits offered up in the water.

Roddy Metcalf made several visits to the dam wall and took 100lbs bags on most visits.

Regular Brian Toy fished peg 15 in the margins and took 11 Carp also on pellet.

The Silvers have continued to feed despite the inclement weather at times taking maggot and castor offered a couple of rod lengths out from the bank.

On the lower Specimen Lake, Catfish were the order of the day with same great sport from most pegs.

Newton Abbot rod Matt Feakes broke his personal best twice in two weeks!
Feakes banked a beautiful Ghost Carp of 24lbs 2oz which beat his previous best and later had a screaming run which resulted with a fine Catfish of 32lbs 8oz in the net! Cell boilies offered mid water tempted the fish, Feakes was, of course, elated!
This long whiskered Catfish fell to a Cell boilie fished from peg 7 at Town Parks Fishery by Matt Feakes.
Newton Abbot rod Matt Feakes banked this superb Ghost Carp from peg 7 at Town Parks Fishery.
The fish fell to a single Cell boilie fished mid water.

Matt Feakes banked this fine Catfish from peg 7 at Town Parks Fishery. His personal best fish of 32lbs 8oz fell to a Cell boilie fished over a bed of maggot.

Mark Warren fished a 24hr session from peg 16 using Cell boilies. Warren’s session finished with two fine Carp on the mat, an excellent Common of 23lbs 14oz which was followed by a good Mirror of 25lbs 2oz!

Crediton rod Steve Hill banked his first Cat which tipped the scales at 23lbs 1oz. A 22mm Halibut pellet fished in the margin did the trick!

Rob Boyne fished overnight from peg 16 and was rewarded with a good Common of 18lbs 5oz which took Boyne’s bait intended for Catfish!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 23/9

The changeable weather conditions kept the fish on the feed at Town Parks Fishery this week.

On the lower Specimen Lake Gordon Batt and Matt Feakes banked 11 fish between them during a 24hr session. Feakes ran out winner with a fine Ghost Carp that tipped the scales at 24lbs 2oz. All the banked fish were high teen’s or twenty’s and fell to Cell boilies offered over a bed of Maggot.

Russ Harding fished peg 9 and was rewarded with a fine personal best Mirror of 21lbs 8oz.
The fish fell to a large pellet offered mid water for Catfish.

Catfish also fed well with the temperatures now dropping.

Fish to early thirties were reported falling to halibut pellet, worm and luncheon meat.

On the top Match Lake good sport was had from most pegs.

Carp took coarse pellet fished close to the islands and along the dam wall.

One visitor fished IM5 green paste to great effect taking 25 Carp to the 10lbs mark from peg 8.

Silvers came on and off the feed as the pressure changed with some heavy bags taken with maggot and castor.

With the colder weather starting to come in the Catfish are expected to start feeding up ready for the winter months. Try inch square chunks of luncheon meat offered around the margins!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 16/9

Another week of excellent catches saw many anglers taking their personal bests at Town Parks Fishery.

Conor Nettleton fished 24hrs on the Specimen Lake for the first time after perfecting his technique on the upper Match Lake. Fishing from peg 6 Nettleton placed his baits with help of his bait boat at various points around the shallower water. Soon after, one rod screamed off and after a 15 minute battle Nettleton’s first ever Catfish was on the mat weighing in at 19lbs 2oz.

Elated with his initial catch he re baited and banked another two Cat’s before his alarms went off again. This run almost took other anglers lines out but, after a 45 minute battle a fine Catfish of 29lbs 1oz was in the weigh sling.

Later that night Nettleton also took a personal best Common Carp of 23lbs 5oz.
All the fish fell to halibut pellet.

Local rod Rob Boyne fished peg 11 and was, frustratingly, snapped off on less than four occasions by very large Catfish.

Plenty of Carp, too many to list individually, came to the bank with many in the mid twenty’s falling to sweeter flavoured boilies.

On the upper Match Lake Carp fed well with 20 to 30 fish per session reported.

Roddy Metcalf made several visits to pegs along the dam and was rewarded with Carp taking pellet offered both on the waggler and also on the pole towards the island.

Bream fell to sweetcorn with some cracking fish taken from peg 3 just short of the islands.

Roach and Rudd are still taking maggot and castor quiet shallow despite the colder nights.
