Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 29/12

Once again the weather kept all but the hardiest anglers in front of the telly!

With all the recent rain fall the flow through the Lakes at Town Parks Fishery has increased giving the water chance to refresh itself and clear out much of the silty deposits from the Summer! The anglers who braved the conditions had good sport with some fine fish coming to the net!

On the top Match Lake local rod Colin Parnell enjoyed one of the better days fishing from peg 10. After trying various baits Parnell decided to fish a strawberry boilie towards the main island. Within minutes Parnell was celebrating after the bait was seized by a fine Common Carp of 8lbs 8oz which was his first Winter carp!!!

Town Parks Fishery regular Colin Parnell was overjoyed when he connected with this fine Common Carp from peg 10 on the Match Lake. The fish was Parnell’s first Winter Carp!

Silvers are still showing in numbers from most pegs with anglers reporting 20lbs plus bags!

On the Specimen Lake Carp remained on the feed despite the conditions.

Numerous Carp in the 10lbs to 16lbs range came to the net taking various baits but predominately Coconut based boilies!

Wolverhampton rod Mike Symonds chose peg 12 for a day session whilst down in the area on holiday. Fishing luncheon meat tight in the margin Symonds was soon into the action.
After an extended battle a fine Common of 21lbs 3oz was on the bank.

Local rod Vince Thorne fished from peg 7 placing his bait close to the waterfall. Thorne’s Coconut boilie was not there for long when a lovely condition Leather Carp of 15lbs 3oz took his bait!

With warm weather settled in, the fish continued to feed at Town Parks Fishery this week.
Once again anglers targeting the Bream on the Specimen Lake enjoyed frantic sport with some excellent bags reported.

Brendon Ions chose peg 2 for a day session fishing a small feeder and maggot on the hook towards the main island. Ions hit fish straight away and, although they went off the feed at times, took fish throughout the day!  Weighing up at the end of the session Ions was amazed to find he had netted 49 fish for 65lbs – lovely fishing! Ions explained that he had come second in his section at another lake the previous week with two fish for 600grms – He said there can’t be many waters providing the sport he enjoyed at Town Parks!

Rod Metcalfe and Steve Wright also targeted the Bream with great success taking bags between 25lbs and 50lbs on each visit! Metcalfe also had an unexpected catch whilst pole fishing for Roach when a large Carp of 15lbs 2oz seized the maggot bait! It took Metcalfe 25 minutes to net the fish – quite remarkable as he was fishing a size 4 elastic, 2lbs hooklink and a size 18 hook!!!

Plymouth fireman Steve Wright fished for Bream from peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery and took this fine bag. Wright was one of several anglers taking bags up to 65lbs!!!

Hopefully the Bream will continue to feed providing excellent sport for anglers over Christmas!

Carp also fed with anglers reporting fish moving in most pegs.

Conor Nettleton had a great session from peg 3 taking 4 fish including a fine Mirror of 24lbs 8oz which fell to pink pop ups! Nettleton had banked the same fish recently a couple of pounds lighter so the fish has been feeding up well ready for the Winter.

Town Parks Fishery regular Conor Nettleton fished from peg 3 and banked the same fish he caught a few weeks ago. The fine condition Mirror tipped the scales at 24lbs 8oz a couple of pounds heavier than last time. The fish fell to a Cell boilie.

Several Carp in the 15 to 20lbs range hit the net including a lovely condition Common taken form peg 1 by Gordon Batt.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 1/12

A quieter week on the Lakes at Town Parks Fishery saw anglers having to use all their skills to get the fish on the feed. The Carp were sporadically feeding with only a few fish reported.

The Match Lake saw half a dozen anglers reporting Carp taken from the margins mainly on maggot or meat! Some good sized Roach were also reported with fish to the 2lbs mark freely taking maggot once they got on the feed.

The Specimen Lake had fish moving around most of the week although they refused to take the many varieties of baits provided by anglers!!

The match fishermen who chose to fish the lake for Bream and Silvers faired much better.

Once again Rod Metcalf lead the field taking up to 50lbs of Bream in a single session.
Double red maggot proved most effective. The bites were very light with fish being hooked if the hook was pulled home the minute the tip moved!!

Other anglers that had heard of Metcalf’s exploits also tried their hand with great success – some reporting bags of 50lbs using the same tactics!

Once again Christmas is upon us and the onsite shop has stocked up with gifts for devoted anglers from tackle to clothing and fishing vouchers.
