Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 27/4

Plenty of action was reported from both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake in particular provided great sport even with the varying weather conditions!

Peg 3 saw regular Dan Cummings fishing for Catfish and his tactics proved very effective.
Fishing a large 35mm “donkey choker” boilie below a 30mm flouro pop up tempted six Cats, all large doubles to 30lbs 2oz!

Town Parks Regular Gordon Batt caught this Mirror Carp form peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish took a Cell boilie and, judging by the size of it’s head will continue to feed up to become a specimen sized fish!

On peg 11 Plymouth rod Matt Conway had a frantic session taking 9 fish and breaking his personal best twice! Three Catfish to 28lbs 3oz and 5 Carp to 20lbs 1oz hit the net! 185lbs of fish!! Starbaits Coconut boilies accounted for all the catches!

On peg 10 Neil Harris from Somerset was overjoyed when he banked his very first Catfish, a good fish of 26lb 4oz which took a slug.

Fishing his first session of the year John Lye started in style when he hooked into, and landed a lovely Mirror Carp of 24lbs 3oz!

Town Parks Regular Gordon “Gorby” Batt fished from peg 6 banking several fish including this lovely Leather Carp of 19lbs 7oz!

John Green fished alongside Luke Neighbour in pegs 15 and 16 and both took good fish.
Neighbour netted his first Catfish of 18lbs 4oz followed by a Common Carp of 18lbs 3oz while Green took a fine Common Carp of 21lbs 7oz! Cell boilies offered in the margins proved effective!

Once again Gordon “Gorby” Batt fished from peg 6 and continued his recent successful run!
Having lost several fish at the net he eventually netted a beautifully scaled Mirror of 19lbs 2oz which fell for a pop up offered near the blue rope!

Local rod Gordon Batt banked 9 Carp from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery including this superb Common of 23lbs 1oz. The fish seized his plum pop up from under the overhanging branches adjacent to the peg.

The top Match Lake also provided great sport. Carp fed well from most pegs.

Rod Metcalfe made several short visits to the dam wall and took up to 18 Carp per session.
Coarse pellet offered around the four foot deep mark tempted the fish.

Town Parks Fishery regular Rod Metcalfe fished from peg 7 on the Specimen Lake for three hours and netted this fine bag of Silvers. The fish fell to dead red maggot offered up in the water.

Simon Hern fished a twilight session form peg 3 and took 9 Carp in a short space of time from the main island.


Silvers showed in numbers with bags to the 50lbs mark reported.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 20/04

Fast and furious sport was reported at Town Parks Fishery this week. As the weather settled down the fish went on a massive feed up!

The Specimen Lake saw anglers banking numerous fish with the Catfish and Carp freely taking baits.

Local rod John Aldred fished from peg 13 at Town Parks Fishery, a peg he has never blanked on, and netted this personal bets Catfish of 22lbs 2oz!

Joe Dawson found the Cats feeding around peg 10 banking 4 over 20 pounds and losing another 5 at the net! Fishing pepparami and Contrast boilies mid water the fish soon started taking baits. Catfish of 24lbs 6oz, 24lbs 12oz, 22lbs 2oz and 22lbs were soon in the net as awell as a smaller Common Carp!

Fishing partner Terry Small fished from 11 and also had a 20lbs plus fish at 24lbs 6oz!

Town Parks regular Gordon Batt chose peg 6 and was not unhappy with his choice! Batt netted 9 fish, all good doubles, including a fine Common Carp of 23lbs 1oz! Mixed baits proved effective offered mainly in the margins.

Local rod Gordon Batt banked 9 fish from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery including this fine condition Leather Carp of 20lbs 1oz!

 Local rod Brett Palmer enjoyed his first session of 2014 and was rewarded with a good Common Carp of 21lbs 8oz from peg 1!

On peg 7 Damien Cherrington had a nice Cat of 21lbs 13oz, 4 Carp to 15lbs 2oz and a lovely Tench of 6lbs 2oz!

Peg 1 produced fish for local rod Steve Godfrey who fished a zig rig mid water. Having failed to take fish using this method before Godfrey was overjoyed when he 3 Carp to 15lbs 1oz!

Dan Cummings banked fish to 30lbs 2oz during a visit to peg 2. Plenty of Carp and Catfish came to the net with Cummings making the best of the conditions! Mirror’s to 22lbs 5oz, Commons to 20lbs 1oz and Catfish to 30lbs 2oz all came to the net with Cell boilies taking the majority of the fish!
Fishing alongside dad Dan, Lauren Cummings netted plenty of silvers including this nice Bream.
This fine Mirror Carp of 22lbs 5oz fell to Dan Cummings during a session form peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery.

Peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery produced this fine personal best Catfish of 30lbs 2oz for local rod Dan Cummings.


The Match Lake also fished very well with Carp taking baits offered from most pegs.

Holidaymaker Cliff Fordon fished from peg 1 and took 13 Carp to double figures with sweetcorn.

Plenty of Carp fell to anglers fishing from peg 10. Local rod Brian Wilson banked 7 to 12lbs casting tight to the main island with 8mm coarse pellet!


Silvers are still taking maggot and castor with bags to the 50lbs mark reported!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 13/4

Both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery produced excellent sport for anglers as more settled weather took hold. The Specimen Lake saw many Catfish and Carp coming to the net with fish taking baits from most areas of the Lake, both shallow and deep.

One group of girls fished for silvers from peg 6 and netted over 10lbs of fish each day during their stay!! Some large Roach and Rudd took maggot baits offered up in the water.

Sophie Batt fished with dad Gordon from peg 3 at Town Parks Fishery. Sophie fished for Silvers and had a good bag including this lovely Bream which fell to a single maggot.

Regular Matt Feakes enjoyed a session from peg 10 taking 8 Carp, all good doubles, to a personal best Common Carp of 26lbs dead! All Feakes fish fell to Cell boilies offered both mid water and in the margins!

Town Parks Fishery regular Matt Feakes had a fantastic session from peg 12 banking 8 fish including his personal best Carp of 26lbs 0oz! The fish fell to a Cell boilie.

Earlier in the week Conor Nettleton fished peg 11 and also banked a fine 26lbs 1oz fish this time a Common Carp!

Local rod Mark Hill broke his recent quiet spell taking 3 Carp to 20lbs 6oz whilst fishing partner Paul Knapman netted a beautifully coloured Ghost Common Koi of 19lbs 1oz.


This fine Tench of 6lbs 4oz fell to Dan Court who fished form peg 8 at Town Parks Fishery.

A brace of Cats fell to Squid boilies offered by Okehampton rod Kevin Race from peg 13.

Both fish were very lively and took quite a while to net. Weights of 23lbs 3oz and 28lbs 7oz were reported!!

Dave Sumner also had some Cat action taking one of 22lbs 2oz from the shallows of peg 6.

Plenty of Carp in the 14 to 20lbs mark were reported taking various baits including coconut, garlic and pineapple.

Whilst fishing with dad Gordon from peg 6, Hayley and Kelsie Batt spent their free time fishing for Silvers using margin whips and maggots. During their stay they averaged around 15lbs of fish per day!

Local rod Mark Hill fished from peg 14 and banked 3 fish including this fine personal best Mirror of 20lbs 3oz! The fish fell to a boilie offered in the margins. 

Dan Court banked a nice Tench of 6lbs 8oz which fell to a boilie!

Jay Harper chose peg 10 and was rewarded with a fine Catfish, one of several taken during the session of 33lbs 4oz!

The top Match Lake also provided good sport with numerous Carp coming to the net.

Silvers continued to fall for maggot and castor from most areas of the lake!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 6/4

The Catfish were on the prowl at Town Parks Fishery this week. Plenty of anglers had great sport with the fish on the feed after their long Winter hibernation!

This Catfish fell to Dan Perks who was fishing from peg 10 during the late evening at Town Parks Fishery.

Town Parks regular Gordon Batt banked two fish, both 22lbs 8oz, from peg 6. Seizing his plum wafter one of the Cats was on the bank within 20 minutes of casting out towards the far bank.

Town Parks Fishery regular fished from peg 6 and banked two Catfish, both 22lbs 8oz which fell to a wafter offered under the overhanging trees to the left of the island.

Conor Nettleton fished an extended session from peg 12 banking 14 fish. Catfish to 23lbs 8oz and Carp to 20lbs 14oz came to the net during the session with coconut boilies proving effective fished in the margins and mid water.

Local rod Jay Harper fished 14 placing his maize baits close to the central bar.Harper was rewarded with 6 fish including 4 Catfish to 26lbs 12oz!

Rob Smith chose peg 10 and was rewarded with his first Catfish, a 8lbs 4oz Bream and a beautifully marked Mirror Carp of 16lbs 4oz! All the fish fell to baits offered close to the main island.

A fine Leather Carp of 21lbs 3oz took a Cell boilie offered in the margins by Steve Jones who also netted 2 smaller Carp and a nice Tench of 6lbs 12oz!

Martyn Nicholls took his first ever Cat, a good fish at 26lbs 0oz from peg 10!

Martyn Nicholls celebrated his first visit to peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery by banking his very first Catfish, a fine fish of 26lbs 0oz. Nicholls also netted a smaller Carp which also fell to a Cell boilie!

Wayne Hockley had fun fighting a Catfish of 18lbs 1oz from peg 9.

On the top Match Lake sport was also good with plenty of Carp coming to the bank.

Regular Rod Metcalfe visited the dam wall for several short sessions taking up to 12 Carp, mainly from the margins, on pellet.

Brixham rod Dave Gorman had his rod snapped whilst he fished from peg 14. A very large fish, probably a Carp took his pellet and swam towards the reeded margins. Despite Gorman's efforts he could not stop the fish in open water and during a frantic run the rod snapped! The hook pulled and the fish escaped to fight another day!!


Some large Roach to the 2lbs 8oz mark were reported from sheltered pegs 3 to 6 taking maggot and castor. Some large bags of smaller fish were also reported during the week.
