TOWN PARKS FISHING CATCH REPORT w/e 21/11

The top Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery continued to produce good sport for the hardy anglers braving the weather conditions.

Medium bags of Silvers and Carp were reported from various pegs around the lake.
Colin took several Carp including a beautiful golden koi which was around the 5lb mark.

Carp have shown in numbers along the dam wall and regular Rob Metcalf banked several during a day session.

On the lower Specimen Lake conditions were testing. Fish were moving around the margins but were hesitant to feed.

Regular Dave Osmond visited for a cup of tea but decided to fish as the fish were moving near peg three. Within 30 minutes Osmond had banked a fine 18lbs 8oz Common which fell to a slow sinking pellet on the drop!

Two Catfish fell to visiting angler Luke Slater the best a nice 17lbs 6oz. Both fish fell to black squid pop up’s offered mid water in front of peg 14.

There are limited pegs left for the Fishery’s Charity matches in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.
The Coarse match, on the top lake, is being held on Sunday 5th December and the Specimen match is the following week on Sunday 12th.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 14/11

Colder weather, producing cooler water temperatures produced testing fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The top Match Lake continued to produce medium bags of both Carp and Silvers for anglers selecting the right pegs.

The dam wall saw Rob Metcalf bank numerous carp to high single figures but he had to work hard for the bites!

Over the weekend the weather improved and anglers reported plenty of Silvers feeding around the 4 feet deep mark. Maggot and castor proved effective.

The lower Specimen Lake provided plenty of sport with many anglers experiencing good runs only to have the fish throw the bait!

Cornwall rod Bruce Julian fished throughout atrocious weather and banked two Commons fishing mainline cell boilies from peg 1.

Gordon Batt had a cracking run at 4.30 am within 5 minutes of setting his zig rig to three feet under the surface. After a battle in which he thought his rod would break the huge fish, probably a big Catfish snapped his hook in half and swam off!!

With the water temperature around the 12 degree mark the Cat’s are still active and should remain so until the temperature drops to single figures!

There are a few pegs left for the Fishery’s Charity Matches in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.

The Coarse match (all fish count) on the top lake is on Sunday 5th December and the Specimen match (Carp and Catfish) on the lower lake is the following week on Sunday 12th December.

Both matches have 07.45 draws with fishing from 08.15 until 16.30 hrs.
Cash and tackle prizes are up for grabs so contact the fishery on 01803 523133 to book your peg!

Don’t forget the Fishery draw tickets are also on sale with numerous prizes up for grabs!

TOWN PARKS FISHING CATCH REPORT W/E 7/11

A better week of catches were reported at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The fish have been moving more freely than of late with some great sport to be had.

On the lower Specimen Lake Kevin Brant visited peg 16 and banked his personal best Catfish! Fishing a bright green squid pop up mid water to the bar his reel screamed off and, after a long battle a fine fish of 27lbs 12oz was in the net.

Fishing a bright green pop up also produced fish for Nathan Price. Best of the bunch a good condition Common of 15lbs 4oz!

Tony Graham and Pete Knowles from South Wales fished a 24hr session from pegs 4 and 5 and both took their first Cat’s. Knowles took a Cat of 17lbs 4oz on halibut pellet and also banked two Mirrors of 16lbs 5oz and 14lbs 2oz. Graham’s Cat tipped the scales at 14lbs 7oz and was complimented with a fine Common of 18lbs 6oz. Both fish fell to spicy homemade boilies.

Darryl Lavis fished peg 9 in atrocious weather conditions but managed to take three Mirrors, the best 15lbs 3oz. Lavis fished mainline cell boilies fished tight to the main island.

The top Match Lake continued to produce good sport from most pegs.
Pete Lake visited peg 1 again and banked a couple of nice Carp to 6lbs 5oz. Lake has been snapped off several times on this peg and he is determined to bank the fish responsible which he believes is high double figures!

Silvers are still showing in numbers but are slightly deeper in the water due to the temperature drop.

Pegs for the Fishery’s Xmas Charity Matches supporting the Devon Air Ambulance are filling fast.

If you would like to fish the matches or support the Prize Draw contact the onsite shop on 01803 523133 for details.

The Coarse match on the Top Lake is being held on Sunday 5th December with a 7.45 am draw and fishing from 8.30 am until the weigh in at 4.30 pm.

The Specimen Lake match is on the following Sunday 12th Dec with the same draw and fishing times!

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 31/10

A group from Robert Owen Foundation enjoyed a morning of tutored fishing on the top Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week. Everyone in the group took Roach and Rudd on maggot from the sheltered southern pegs 1 – 6.

Fishing on the Match Lake has been very good with many anglers taking medium bags of both Silvers and Carp.

Birmingham rod Brian Hughes fished peg 1 into the reeds and had a day which he described as “summer fishing”! Fishing on the pole Hughes was initially snapped off six times by very large Carp hugging the reeds. Having changed to an 18 elastic the fish came to the bank eventually amounting to 21 Carp to 10lbs 4oz!

Other anglers reported good catches of Carp one taking 9 to 8lbs 8oz from pegs 1 to 6. The dam wall pegs proved tricky to fish due to the strong Westerly winds although anglers choosing the right pegs did bag up!

The lower Specimen Lake saw the final match of the Torbay Angling sponsored Town Parks Carp League. Although he blanked in the final match the overall winner was Julian Hutton who won over £350!

The Specimen Lake continued to be “peggie” with fish moving freely throughout the night but slower in the daytime.

Bristol anglers Rob Dyer and Chris Jones visited pegs 1 and 16 for a 24hr session. Dyer banked two lovely Mirrors of 21lbs 2oz and 18lbs 3oz on pineapple pop up’s whilst Jones took a good Catfish of 19lbs 7oz a Common of 18bs 6oz and a Mirror of 15lbs 7oz!

Redruth rod Steve Pembleton fished with son Darren on pegs 9 and 10. Steve ran out winner with a fine 22lbs 14oz Mirror and a 15lb 4oz Linear whilst Darren banked a nice Common of 16lbs 7oz! The fish fell to various baits fished in the margins!
