Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 23/2

With a break in the weather anglers fished from the more exposed pegs at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The upper Match Lake saw anglers fishing the dam wall and the fish were feeding.

Rod Metcalfe fished his first session there for some time and immediately got into the action.
Three Carp to 11lbs came to the bank from his first four casts! Coarse pellet offered up in the water around the three foot mark proved effective with ten carp coming to the net for 85lbs!

Junior Jack Mogg banked five carp from peg 1 casting towards the island with maggot bait.

Town Parks regular Conor Nettleton fished for silvers from the same peg later in the week and had a medium mixed bag all taken on maggot.

On the Specimen Lake sport continued with plenty of anglers reporting fish!

Steve Haydon made a welcome return after a long layoff to take 6 Carp, all good doubles, to 19lbs 0oz from peg 10! Cell boilies accounted for most of the fish.

Matty Feakes fished peg 2 and took a fine brace of Leather Carp, the best 16lbs 1oz! Coconut flavoured pop up’s fished close to the island tempted the fish!

Better weather towards the weekend saw catches improve at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake produced some good sport with anglers reporting runs or fish from most pegs.

Kingsteignton rod Dave Grylls had a very good visit to peg 2 banking five Carp from the island. All the fish were high doubles and fell to Chris Reynard baits.

Local rod Andy Meredith visited peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery and fished a Cell boilie close to the island. Meredith was rewarded with two good doubles including this fine Common Carp of 17lbs 1oz.

Local rod Andy Meredith chose peg 6 to get some shelter from the strong winds. Meredith fished Cell boilies towards the small island in front of the swim and, although the peg has not fished well recently, took two Carp to 17lbs 2oz!

Town Parks Fishery regular Matt Feakes continued his recent run of fish with this lovely condition Linear Carp which seized his Cell boilie offered from peg 12

Following on from last week’s success Matt Feakes continued to bank fish. Fishing from peg 12, Feakes and took a nice Mirror of 15lbs 1oz whilst Gordon Batt fished peg 11 and also banked a lovely condition Common Carp.

Torquay Rod Gordon Batt fished from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this fine condition Leather Carp which fell to a Cell boilie offered near the main island.

Although many anglers decided to fish the Specimen Lake to get some shelter the Match Lake also produced fish mainly in the deeper water pegs.

Peg 1 saw anglers netting Carp to 7lbs taken tight to the reeds in the margins towards peg 20. Double red maggot or pellet are proving successful.

Silvers are still coming to maggot and castor offered around mid depth.

A couple of local juniors who had not fished before took some lovely Roach to 1lbs 8oz from the dam wall. 4 mt whips, size 18 hooks and single maggot tempted the fish!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 9/2

As the very unsettled weather continued anglers chose their days carefully! Heavy rain kept both lakes full to capacity with a very good throughput refreshing the water.

On the Specimen Lake some anglers braved atrocious conditions but reaped the rewards.

Matt Feakes fished from peg 2 during some of the worst weather of the week. The fish were feeding and, after several runs he connected with a good Linear Carp of 17lbs 3oz. The fish fell to a Cell boilie.

On peg 1 Gordon Batt also braved the conditions and managed to connect with a nice Leather of 16lbs 2oz.

Peg 3 saw Karen Wright fish alongside husband Steve who has banked a few good fish recently. It was to be Karen's day when she connected with a good fish mid water. Once in the net the fish was weighed and at 16lbs 14oz proved to be Karen's personal best Carp!
10mm Cell boilies tempted the fish!

Karen Wright fished from peg 3 at Town Parks Fishery using 10mm Cell boilies cast mid water. Karen was rewarded when this fine Mirror seized her bait. The fish weighed 16lbs 14oz and was a personal best!!!

Several smaller Carp were reported with some of the recent large specimens keeping their heads down and staying off the feed!

On the upper Match Lake most species were still taking bait.
A couple of anglers reported carp taking halibut pellet. Up to 6 Carp were taken in a session with a top weight of 7lbs!

Silvers continued to take maggot and castor although depths varied as the air pressure changed! Some nice winter Bream came to the net with medium bags reported from around the islands.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 2/2

Totnes rod John Aldred fished from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery in atrocious weather with gale force winds and driving rain. Getting soaked and feeling cold was worth it after he banked his personal best carp of 24lbs 1oz. The fish seized Aldreds Cell boilie which was offered tight in the left side margin.

Town Parks Fishery regular John Aldred fished from peg 12 in atrocious weather conditions with wind and rain in his face. Aldred fished his Cell boilie tight in the margins and at 4.30 am he was rewarded with this fine Mirror of 24lbs 1oz, his personal best!

Aldreds fishing partner also banked a nice Carp of 15lbs from peg 11.

Tris Smith had a quick evening visit to peg 16 hunting early Catfish and was not disappointed! Float fishing worm six inches off the bottom Smith was most surprised when his bait was taken by a Cat of 14lbs 2oz! Smith had done a bit of stalking and couldn’t reach his net but luckily Steve Wight was on hand to offer some help and witness the fish! More surprising is the water temperature is only 6.8 degrees at present and the Catfish do not generally start moving around before the temperature reaches double figures!

Once again Conor Nettleton connected with Carp. Fishing from peg 14 Nettleton lost a couple of good fish before banking two good Carp to high teens. 10mm Cell boilies attracting the fish!

Plymouth fireman and Town Parks regular Steve Wright also chose 10mm Cell to fish from peg 3. Within minutes of casting out towards the central bar Wright had his first fish on the bank, a beautifully marked Fully Scaled Carp!

Conor Nettleton made a couple of trips to various pegs and connected with up to 12 Carp.

A nameless angler fished an afternoon session from peg 5 in driving rain and strong winds.
Seven Carp to 12lbs came to the bank after taking halibut pellet fished close to the end of the island. Silvers have also been active with small mixed bags reported from both shallow and deep water pegs.
