Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 17/10

Excellent catches on the top Match Lake and testing conditions on the Specimen Lake were the order of the day at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Some excellent bags were reported from deeper water pegs on the Match Lake.
Regular Rod Metcalf visited peg 17 and banked an 81lbs bag of Carp. All the fish were taken on 7mm coarse pellet presented near the bar between the islands. Metcalf said he had to keep a constant stream of pellet going into the water to keep the fish in his swim! He returned later in the week and took another 23 Carp using the same method!

Tony Rogers took a 115lb mixed bag fishing peg 20. Maggot offered close to the margin reeds proved effective.

Pete Bryant fished an overnighter on peg 1 and took 18 Carp, 17 Commons and 1 Leather on Japanese Squid boilies with Crazy Bait Black groundbait.

The fish fed throughout the night even though the temperature dropped down enough for a light frost!
Neil Butcher made a welcome return after a recent illness and took a good mixed bag from peg 3. Butcher fished with fishing partner Bob Hewitt who said he had “snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and blanked”!

The lower Specimen Lake proved a little more difficult to fish with anglers getting plenty of runs but the fish throwing the bait as soon as any resistance was felt! This aside some nice fish did come to the bank.

Newton Abbot rod Tony Hodgson fished overnight and banked a fine, personal best, Catfish of 22lbs 6oz!
Hodgson fished a chunk of pepperami mid water from peg 12.

Visitor Phil Jones also visited peg 12 and banked two Carp.

Jones fished Mainline Cell boilies tight to the margin for his Mirrors of 19lbs 3oz and 17lbs 4oz. Several smaller Carp came to the bank, all had proved difficult to tempt!

Although the fish can be seen patrolling around the lake during the day and very active throughout the night time, they have been hesitant to feed – a colder snap of weather will hopefully bring them back on the feed!

The Fishery’s £200 prize for the next Carp banked over 30lbs is still on offer. Although some big fish have been taken none of the lakes half dozen or so 30lb’ers have shown up recently!
