TOWN PARKS FISHERY CATCH REPORT W/E 14/9

Settled weather conditions kept the lakes busy at Town Parks Fishery this week.
Both Specimen and Match lakes continued to produce great sport!

The Match Lake saw anglers banking Carp and Silvers although the fish went on and off the feed and changes of bait types was required to keep the fish interested.

Two lucky juniors fished from peg 19 and peg 3 with small 4 foot “starter rods” and both connected and banked Carp of 3lbs and 8lbs!

Rod Metcalfe found fish feeding later in the day from pegs along the dam wall banking Carp to double figures on most visits. Metcalfe found most of the larger fish feeding the margins as the light was fading!

Tim Slim had a good day from peg 16 taking a very large bag of Skimmers on the pole around the 8 metre mark!

With warm temperatures expected to continue the fishing should remain very good especially for Silvers.

On the Specimen Lake the fish fed well at most times of the day with Catfish and Carp coming to the bank during daylight and night time.

Martin Parkes banked a beautiful personal best Common of 24lbs 8oz which took his Source boilie from the margins of peg 12.

Meanwhile on peg 6 Dean Moray fished towards the island and connected with a good Mirror which hit the scales at 23lbs 7oz! The fish had taken a golf ball sized hot and spicy meatball intended to tempt the Catfish!

Cornwall rod Gary Newell tested his new homemade banana and coconut boilies from peg 15 which worked to great effect. Newel was overjoyed after banking a Common and Mirror Carp, the best 24lbs 5oz!

Fishing partner George Stead also had a fantastic session taking his first ever Carp, a Mirror of 20lbs 6oz! Luckily he had used some of Newell’s boilies!

Cornwall rod George Stead banked his first ever Carp from peg 14 on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery taking this beautiful Mirror Carp of 20lbs 6oz! Stead fished a Banana and coconut homemade boilie!

Catfish continued to come to the bank although not in the numbers seen recently due the rise in water temperature due to the warm weather. Cats to 36lbs 4oz were reported taking luncheon meat from most pegs!

The current warm weather is very good news for all the anglers targeting Catfish in the coming weeks as the water temperature should remain above the single figure mark which signals the start of hibernation!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 8/9

Catfish started to feed up ready for the Winter months at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Plenty of Catfish, too many to list individually, came to the bank with 7 fish over 30lbs being taken in one 24 hour period!!

Saltash junior Corey Snell had a great session from peg 3 at Town Parks Fishery when he fought and landed his very first Catfish. The fish fell to luncheon meat and weighed 20lbs 1oz!!

Visitor Steve Ball had a great session from peg 11 banking Cats of 35lbs 3oz and 21lbs 2oz complimented by a brace of Common Carp to 18lbs 8oz! Halibut pellet tipped with pop up sweetcorn proving effective.

On the adjoining peg Will Battersby also did well taking is first Catfish along with 3 more, 25lbs 1oz, 21lbs 4oz, 21lbs 6oz and 17lbs 8oz! Crab and mussel boilies intended for Carp proved irresistible.

Local rod Andrew Dack fished from peg 9 and banked 2 cats of 33lbs 3oz and 30lbs 9oz!

Town Parks Fishery regular Brian Leamy visited peg 12 and continued his recent run of fish banking this fine Catfish, one of 3, and a good Ghost Carp of 16lbs 3oz!

Brian Leamy visited peg 1 and fished halibut pellet in the margins around the willow tree.
Leamy’s bait was soon taken and a fine Cat of 30lbs dead was on the mat! Leamy also took 2 more Cats of 21lbs and 18lbs as well as a nice Ghost Carp of 16lbs 3oz.

Little Charlie Annan fished the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery with dad Karl.
Charlie was overjoyed to catch his first Catfish although it wasn't the biggest fish in the lake!

One unnamed angler from Birmingham fished from peg 12 intending to bank his first Catfish.
He was overjoyed by the end of his session when he had banked no less than 10 Cats!

The top Match Lake also fished well albeit a little more sporadically after the colder nights.

Lee Hunt took a large bag of Carp from peg 10 offering pellet up in the water.

Once again Rod Metcalfe had some cracking sessions from various pegs finding the fish in the margins later in the day. Luncheon Meat and pellet offered very close in resulted in bags to the 100lbs mark on most visits!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 31/8

The fish continued to feed heavily at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake in particular saw angers enjoying frantic sport as the fish took baits freely.

Town Parks Fishery regular Christian Scales fished a session from peg 9 on the Specimen Lake and banked six fish including this fine Mirror Carp taken with a Cell boilie.

Matt Feakes fished from peg 11 and was soon into the fish. Feakes netted 4 fish including a Cat of 25lbs 3oz which was one of his biggest catches!

Fishing alongside Feakes was friend Shayne Parkes who was targeting Catfish having never caught one! Parkes was not disappointed after he banked no less than 8 Cats to high teens which had seized his Cell boillies!

Visitor Craig Matthews fished a 24hr session from peg 15 and netted 10 catfish and carp overnight losing another 3 at the net! Banoffee boilies tipped with sweetcorn and offered towards the central bar accounted for most of the fish, the best a fine Ghost Carp of 23lbs 6oz!

Local rod Mitchell Steer fished overnight for peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery taking this fine Ghost Carp, one of a brace which fell for a Cell boilie!

Mitchell Steer had a good session from peg 2 banking a couple of good Carp, including a beautiful Ghostie and also losing a large Cat at the net.

Christian Scales fished from peg 9 on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery and banked this Catfish of 23lbs 7oz amongst a haul of 6 fish!

Regular Christian Scales had fun from peg 9 taking 3 Carp and 3 Catfish on Cell boilies.
Scales best Cat was 23lbs 7oz!


 Meanwhile the top Match Lake provided good sport from most pegs. Plenty of Carp were reported taking various baits including pellet and luncheon meat.

Bags to the 200lbs mark have been reported from the dam wall as the fish move into the margins later in the day.

Many regulars have also reported large bags of Silvers which are taking maggot at most depths and from most pegs!

Reg Hill fished with grandson Charlie and amongst great excitement Charlie hooked and landed his very first Carp!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 24/8

With dropping temperatures the fish began a massive feed up ready for the Winter months at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake in particular saw anglers taking plenty of fish without a single one leaving without a catch! Catfish fed throughout both night and daytime with “firsts” and personal best’s commonplace!

Darren Lord Fished Overnight From Peg 14 At Town Parks Fishery And Took Several Fish Including This Beautiful Common Carp Of 24LBS 1OZ!

Visitor Simon Merrell banked a fine 33lbs 1oz specimen, his first, from peg 5 although the fish had already taken an anglers bait and was hooked from peg 10! The fish had seized another bait despite being hooked and after an extended battle it was on the bank! Merrells homemade boilies proving irresistible, he also banked 2 Carp.

Fishing partner Paul “Reedy” Reed also enjoyed great sport taking four Carp and losing another 3! All Reeds fish fell to Cell boilies offered from peg 4.

Brian Leamy continued his recent run of fish by taking his first Cat hitting the scales at a fine 26lbs 8oz! Halibut pellet offered from peg 12 did the trick!

Peg 12 At Town Parks Fishery Proved Lucky For Brian Leamy Who Took His First Catfish Which Tipped The Scales At 26LBS 8OZ!

Day angler Tim Sinclare fished from peg 14 and was not disappointed when his alarms screamed off when his Kipper boilie was taken by a Catfish of 27lbs 1oz!

On peg 2 Abi Fielding fished for her personal best cat but had to settle with a fine Mirror Carp in the high teens!

Town Parks Fishery Regular Abi Fielding Targeted Her Favourite Catfish When She Fished From Peg 2. Abi Had A Surprise When Her Bait Was Taken By This Personal Best Mirror Carp.

Plymouth rod Den Assall celebrated his best session on the lakes taking 5 Carp from peg 8.

Plymouth Rod Den Assall Fished From Peg 7 On The Specimen Lake At Town Parks Fishery And Had His Best Session To Date! 5 Carp Came To The Bank Including This Fine Condition Mirror!

Tom Purdy, also from Plymouth fished Peg 6 and banked 5 fish, 2 Carp and 3 Cats to 21lbs!
Purdys fishing partner Paddy McKay chose peg 16 and also had a great first session at the lakes taking 5 Carp on Cell boilies!

On the top Match Lake sport was also good with Carp feeding well especially in the margins.
Anglers fishing coarse pellet took the bigger bags although luncheon meat and corn also worked well at times.

A couple of larger Carp were reported with one angler connecting with one of 22lbs!

Silvers continued to take maggot up in the water although some were taken a little deeper after the colder nights!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 17/8

Catfish and Carp were on the feed at Town Parks Fishery as the temperatures dropped this week. Plenty of fish came to the bank after taking various baits from most pegs! Ten Cat’s over 30lbs were reported this week!

A superb Catfish of 39lbs 10oz was reported by an unnamed angler who fished from peg 15 and offered a Cell boilie in the margins.

Regular Conor Netherton fished from peg 14 and netted three good Carp but also lost another three as the fish pulled free at the net.

Local rod Colin Mace enjoyed a couple of overnighters from pegs 5 and 3 and took fish on both occasions! Peg 5 provided sport with plenty of runs and a fine Linear Carp on the mat in superb condition. Meanwhile, peg 3 saw Mace bank a lovely Mirror of 26lbs 8oz!.

Regular Simon Hern celebrated his first Catfish of 26lbs 8oz which fell to a Cell boilie offered from peg 12. Hern has recently had a great run of fish from both Lakes but the Catfish was his personal best!!

The top Match Lake also saw anglers enjoying frantic sport with Carp and Silvers feeding freely.

Rod Metcalfe continued his recent run of fish taking bags to the 90lbs mark!

Carp tended to stay out in mid water during the day taking pellet, luncheon meat and corn but as the sun dropped they moved to the margins where many anglers fishing “twilight” tickets took fish after fish!

Silvers continued to fall for maggot and castor.


The onsite shop is open every day from 8 a.m. over the Bank Holiday weekend with fresh supplies of bait and tackle!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 10/7

Unsettled weather kept the fish on the feed at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake produced great sport with Carp and Catfish taking various baits.

Plymouth rod Gary Mills had plenty of action from peg 5 culminating with a beautiful Ghost Carp of 22lbs 4oz! An M25 boilie fished towards the central bar proving irresistible.

Plymouth rod and Town Parks Fishery regular Gary Mills continued his recent run of fish banking this superb condition Ghost Carp. The fish fell to a boilie offered from peg 5.

Town Parks regular Andy Handshaw fished from the same peg the previous night and connected with a good Cat which had taken his Cell boilie. The fish hit the scales at 24lbs 3oz!

Bryn Mudie banked his personal best Catfish from peg 15 which weighed 20lbs 6oz and fell to a chunk of Pepperami.

Fishing partner Harry Buckmaster also netted his personal best Cat of 19lbs 1oz which fell to the same bait.
The third member of the party, John Hooker enjoyed his session taking two Carp, both PB’s to 15lbs 2oz

Steve Symons fished on the surface in front of 10 and took a brace of Carp to 18lbs 2oz on biscuit!


On the Match Lake Mitchell Steer fished 48 hours from peg 1 and banked 42 Carp all of which fell to small boilies. Best of the bunch a fine Ghostie of 12lbs 8oz.

Multiple catches of Carp were reported from several pegs with pellet, small boilies or corn proving effective.

Silvers continued to feed throughout the week with bags continuing around the 100lbs mark!

A couple of Tench were banked best around the 6lbs mark from peg 8.

Catch Report w/e 3/8

With slightly lower temperatures, good catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week. Before the cooler weather came in the air temperature was recorded at 33 degrees and the water temp was 23.7 degrees both all time highs!

The Specimen Lake produced some excellent sport with the Catfish providing fast and furious takes from most pegs. Many of the anglers connecting with the Cats found themselves snapped off after takes or facing extended battles trying to stop the fish running around snags!

On peg 9 local rod Alex Lowe managed to net three Catfish and two Carp all of which fell to his Cell boilies offered mid water. Best Cat of the bunch a fine 24lbs 8oz and biggest Carp at 20lbs 3oz!

Local rod Alex Lowe had a great session fro​m peg 9 at Town Parks Fishery banking five fish to 24lbs 8oz. This Catfish fell to a Cell boilie offered mid water.


Paignton rod Andy Handshaw enjoyed a session from peg 6 which has been fishing well recently and was not disappointed when his Peaches and Cream boilies were taken by three Carp including a nice Common of 19lbs 8oz!

Regular Nick Solomon followed Handshaw into 6 and, at the time of writing had banked three fish, two Carp and a Cat all high doubles!

Some nice Carp came to the net from various pegs, too many to list individually, mainly taking sweet flavoured boilies!

The Match Lake is fishing much better now the temperature has dropped back.  Carp freely took pellet or meat offered in the middle of the lake during the day but preferred to take the same baits offered in the margins as the sun dropped! Regular anglers reported bags up to 150lbs on the better days.

Silvers continued to feed throughout the day taking maggot and castor.

A few nice Crucian Carp have come to the bank, Perry Northeast taking a nice one from peg 15!

The fully stocked onsite shop is open every day to all anglers with fresh supplies of maggot, castor, worm always available!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 27/7

Searing heat and sunny weather conditions produced very testing fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

On the Specimen Lake fish sunbathed in the sunshine but seemed reluctant to feed consistently. Anglers had to use their watercraft and change baits to attract takes!

Once again Lee Otridge was in the action banking his personal best Catfish of 24lbs 8oz from peg 11.

Local rod Lee Otridge continued his recent run of fish at Town Parks Fishery taking this fine Catfish from peg 11 on the Specimen Lake. Te fish fell to a Cell boilie offered midwater!

 Wayne Hockley also banked a good Cat of 23lbs 6oz and three Carp to 18lbs 3oz.
Fishing partner Scotty Bryant also had a Catfish of 19lbs 2oz and a brace of Carp to 14lbs 3oz! Homemade special boilies accounting for all his fish!

Rob Boyne fished a day session from peg 14 using floating baits and zig rigs. Boyne did well tempting a Catfish of 20bs 2oz and a fully scaled Carp in the high doubles. A couple of Tench also came to the bank, the best 8lbs 5oz!

Conor Nettleton fished from 6 and netted two Carp to 20lbs 4oz! Cell boilies fished under the overhanging trees did the trick!

On the top Match Lake sport was a little faster with Carp and Silvers taking baits, mainly during the early morning and early evening sessions.

Rod Metcalf fished a few short sessions banking up to 20 fish a time! Pellet offered up in the water and in the margins proved very effective.

Visitor Phil Drury fished a day session from peg 1 and found the Carp feeding heavily in the margins. Drury estimated he banked he banked 120lbs of fish during the day! Luncheon meat and hookable pellet accounted for most of the fish.


With slightly cooler temperatures forecast the fish should go a little deeper in the water and start feeding throughout the daytime.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 20/07

Once again the Catfish were feeding heavily in the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week. Both regulars and first timers were entertained with the action from most pegs around the lake.

First time visitor Exeter rod Paul Hayes fished peg 15 and as not disappointed when his alarms screamed off and he eventually netted a fine Cat of 24lbs 14oz which had taken his coconut boilie!

Town Parks Fishery regular Lee Otridge had a great session from peg 11 taking four fish including this fine personal best Catfish of 26lbs 3oz!

Exeter rod Martin Vicary fished from 11 and was rewarded with his personal best Catfish of 32lbs 6oz topped off with a Common Carp of 18lbs 3oz. Blood worm boilies fished in the margins tempted the fish.

Town Parks regular Billy Jenkins was over the moon after fishing peg 6 and banking three Cat’s of 34lbs 4oz, 25lbs 2oz and 19lbs dead! Some apple flavoured, homemade boilies offered near the blue rope tempted all the fish!

After banking his personal best Catfish form peg 11 Lee Otridge was over the moon to net his best Leather Carp to date at 16lbs 4oz!

Peter Aylward travelled from Norfolk for one of is regular trips to peg 1. In between a regular line of visitors Aylward managed to bank a brace of Carp to 19lbs 4oz and a couple of Cats to the same weight.

Matty Feakes fished from 2 and netted two Cats to 18lbs 8oz and a couple of Carp to15lbs 3oz! Cell boilies proved effective.

Match angler Dave Snape fished for Bream from peg 1 but was over the moon when he banked  a Catfish of 6lbs 1oz which had taken his pellet.

On the top Match Lake the Carp continued to feed on the cooler days although they tended to sunbathe on the hotter ones! Catches of up to 27 fish were reported from various pegs.

Pellet, corn and luncheon meat accounted fo most of the catches.

Regular Perry Northeast had a 100lbs plus bag from the dam wall!


Silvers are still freely taking maggot and castor from most pegs, once again 100lbs plus bags can be expected!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 13/7

Following last week’s superb catches, Catfish remained very active on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.

This fine condition Common carp fell to a Cell boilie offered close to the main island from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery.

Peg 7 saw Lee Oatridge bank his personal best Catfish of 26lbs 8oz, a Leather of 18lbs 4oz and Linear Carp of 16lbs 8oz. The fish were taken from the margins around the waterfall and took Banoffee boilies.

Dave Sumner fished from peg 6 and took a Cat of 22lbs 1oz on Cell boilies.

Town Parks Fishery regular Lee Jones battled wet and windy weather conditions on peg 5 and was rewarded with his personal best Mirror Carp of 19lbs 7oz!

Richard Evans from Lancashire enjoyed an evening session from peg 14 targeting Catfish which he had never caught before. Evans was overjoyed when his reel screamed off and, after enjoying playing the fish to the net, he weighed a fine Cat of 19lbs 6oz!

Paignton rod Andy Handshaw continued his recent run of good fish with a lovely condition Common Carp of 21lbs 2oz taken on a peaches and cream boilie fished close to the main island from peg 2!

Regular John Webster fished a day from peg 6 and hit into a large fish which seized his bait placed under the overhanging trees. After an extended battle Webster had the fish in the net, a find Mirror! Under the scales it read 26lbs 8oz and felt every ounce as Webster lifted it for the mandatory picture!

After several successful sessions from peg 6 on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery local rod John Webster finally connected with his personal best Carp of 26lbs 8oz! 


Local rod Bob Ineson fished overnight from peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery. During the early hours Ineson’s alarms screamed off and, after an extended battle, this fine Catfish, was on the bank!! This was Ineson’s personal best Cat at 31lbs 8oz!!

 On the top Match Lake catches also held up as Carp and Silvers fed freely. Regulars reported up to 22 Carp per session mainly taken on pellet!

Silvers were in abundance from most pegs with bags to to 90lbs mark reported.

A group of local Brownie leaders and helpers enjoyed a tutored evening session and soon got into the swing of fishing. Some had never fished but before long everyone had caught Roach, Perch and Rudd and one unlucky lady lost a large Carp of around 5lbs at the net!

The Fishery would like to remind anglers that “Twilight Tickets” commence at 16.00 hrs and are not available at any other times.

The Fishery would also ask anglers to report any line in the water as a result of snapped off casts or fish breaks around the islands. Whilst the Fishery takes every care removing lines left trailing it can be a danger to fellow anglers, fish and wildlife.

Maintenance work will soon be commencing around both lakes. Pegs will be repaired or rebuilt, fencing will be replaced and the seating area outside the shop will be completed.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 6/7

The changeable weather conditions during the week saw the fish feeding sporadically at Town Parks Fishery.

The Specimen Lake produced Carp and Catfish from most pegs with anglers having to carry out plenty of watercraft to identify where the fish were lying.

Town Parks regular Andy Handshaw did just that and took four fish from peg 5. Best of the bunch was a Catfish of 25lbs 6oz with two more Cats, both high doubles and a 18lbs 8oz Common. Cell boilies the bait!

On peg 6 local rod Bob Ineson banked his personal best Catfish at 30lbs 3oz and got snapped off by a much larger fish!

Following Ineson into peg 6 was visitor Craig Richards who promptly netted another Cat, his first of 25lbs 8oz!

Cell boilies accounted for all the Cats!!

Danny Harry made his first visit to Town Parks and was not disappointed when he netted four Carp to 19lbs 2oz and two Catfish both high teens!

Birmingham rod Norman Thorn enjoyed one of his yearly visits to Town Parks fishing from peg 7. Thorn took 7 fish in total, 6 Carp and a single Cat, all good doubles which took his Cell boilies!

Wayne Hockley fished a quick evening session from peg 14 and banked three Carp, 2 mirrors and a nice Leather. All the fish fell to baits offered in open water directly in front of the peg!


The top Match Lake produced plenty of action for school parties fishing during their Activities Week.

Students from KEVICC enjoyed catching Carp, Roach, Bream and Perch up in the water with maggot baits, whilst students from Plymstock School fished various pegs with one pupil netting 4 Carp including a nice Ghostie and a fine condition Crucian Carp!

Regulars also enjoyed the action with multiple bags of Carp being taken particularly during the early evening sessions.

The margins continue to produce the best nets with the fish moving in as the day anglers start packing up!

Bags of Silvers to the 80lbs mark were reported from several pegs with maggot and castor the favourite baits.

The onsite shop is open every day with stocks of fresh maggots, castor and worm as well as shelf life and frozen boilies and most other coarse baits and pellets!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 29/6

Catfish and Carp remained very active on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Nick Solomon had a good night on peg 15 taking two Cats, the best a fine 34lbs 3oz beauty.
A mixture of baits offered in the margins proved irresistible!

Town Parks Fishery regular Nick Solomon had a fantastic session from peg 15 fishing a mixture of baits in the margins. Solomon was soon in the action and banked two Cats including this fine fish of 34lbs 3oz!

Plymouth rod Tom Purdy chose peg 6 for a bit of stalking and took two Carp in quick succession from the margins. Cell boilies topped with corn producing the goods!

Pete Lake fished from peg 6 and managed to place his baits where only bait boats go!!
The effort of getting his bait to the right spot paid off when he banked his personal best Linear Carp of 18lbs 8oz which fell to a Plum boilie!

Visitor Paul Richards chose peg 1 and banked his first Catfish of 22lbs 4oz and a superb condition Ghostie of 21lbs 9oz! All Richard’s fish fell to homemade garlic boilies!

On the top Match Lake sport was also good with Carp and Silvers responding well in the unsettled weather conditions.

The Dam wall saw anglers taking Carp in numbers with bags of 100lbs plus not uncommon!
Some large Carp have come to the bank and anglers have reported how much weight the fish have gained over recent years. The average has gone up from the 4lbs 8oz mark to 7lbs plus!!

Rod Metcalfe took up to 20 fish to 12lbs during several short visits with coarse pellet the main bait. Metcalfe also used the “dobbin” method to great effect. Bread bait is weighted with a shot near the hook so the bread sinks slowly down in the water. On the right day this method cannot fail!


Bream have showed in numbers with some large fish reported falling to pellet or meat.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 23/6

As the hot sunny weather continued it wasn’t just the anglers who were sunbathing at Town Parks Fishery this week! The Carp were somewhat elusive as the temperatures soared into the high twenty’s!

On the Specimen Lake the Catfish did stay active with plenty of action for anglers targeting them.

Matt Feakes made a welcome return after a short break and it was not long before he was into the Cats! Feakes fished from peg 11 and tempted five good Catfish, all high doubles to the bank. Best of Feake’s bag a fine 25lbs 2oz! 

Town Parks regular Matt Feakes enjoyed the sport from peg 11 taking five Catfish from the margins including this beauty! Cell boilies tempted all Feake’s fish!

Meanwhile on peg 13 brother Alan also enjoyed a great session taking his first Cat of 19lbs 8oz and following this with another three Cats!

Birmingham angler Alan Feakes had a frantic session from peg 13 at Town Parks Fishery banking his first four Catfish during the night. Cell boilies proved effective offered mid water and in the margins!

All these Catfish fell to Cell boilies.

Jay Harper chose peg 6 and was not disappointed with three Carp, all taken off the top on biscuit!

Local rod Matt Skelly fished a quick overnighter on 14 and banked three fish, two Cats and a Carp from the margins.

On the top Match Lake sport was sporadic with fish going on and off the feed.

Late evening and early morning sessions proved the most effective with multiple catches reported from anglers fishing these times.

Jon Haddon had a couple of day sessions with the Carp taking maggot offered close in the margins.

Rod Metcalfe and Conor Nettleton both had good sessions from the dam wall reporting up to 18 fish per session!

Dave Reynolds fished with sons Max and Ben from peg 5 and netted plenty of Silvers during the day. As evening approached Reynolds hooked into something much bigger and, after an extended battle a lovely Fully Scaled Mirror of 7lbs was on the bank!

Silvers were active with bags to the 40lbs mark reported from various pegs.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 15/6

Towards the end of the week both lakes at Town Parks Fishery saw the fish spawning.
Before the spawning commenced fishing was good with plenty of fish coming to the net on both lakes.

On the top Match Lake Carp spent the warmer days sunbathing on the surface with the fish responding to “floaters”. As the sun dropped the fish moved to the margins and anglers fishing within a few feet of the foliage found them feeding well!

Rod Metcalfe fished the “dobbing” method with his bread bait sinking slowly with the weight of a small shot attached near the hook. The Carp seized the bait as the bread dropped past them and up to 20 fish per session came to the net!

The Fishery held its annual “Carers Day” in lovely sunshine. Organised by Torbay Council the day gives Carers in the community a chance to fish and relax away from their usual routines. Silvers showed in numbers with everybody taking fish with maggots.

On the Specimen Lake the Catfish carried on feeding whilst the Carp got on with spawning.
Once again Pete Lake was in the action when he hooked and banked a Cat of 27lbs whilst fishing for Bream on very light gear!

On peg 7 Plymouth rod John Lamble celebrated after targeting and banking his personal best Cat of 29lbs 2oz!

Also into the Cats were Trevor and Alan Ogden. Fishing from 3 on his birthday Alan banked a beauty of 23lbs 8oz which was his first Cat while Trevor, on 5 also banked his first at 20lbs dead!

Carp also showed with best of the week a fine Ghostie Common of 23lbs 9oz taken from peg 14 by visitor Graham Sloan.


With spawning now over the fish will come back on the feed with some great sport expected over the coming weeks!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 8/6

Brixham rod Pete Lake achieved his long term ambition to catch a Catfish over 20lbs from the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery. Lake fished a Cell boilie from peg 5 placing his bait in the deep bay to the left of the peg. Almost immediately the bait was taken and, after an extended battle a great Cat of 22lbs 3oz was on the bank!

Lake was overjoyed!!

Earlier in the day Gordon Batt had taken Catfish of 30lbs 6oz and 21lbs 4oz from peg 6 when the fish were feeding up in the shallows!

Nick Solomon fished overnight from 2 and took three fish, all high doubles including a brace of Cats and a Common.

Fishing for Bream from peg 4, Bob Hewitt enjoyed a frantic session taking fish to the 5lbs mark on very light gear with maggot.

Plenty of Catfish in the late teens and early twentys have been reported from most pegs with luncheon meat, worm and halibut pellet proving to be the best baits!

Jack Lord took a beautiful Ghost Common from peg 12 on a Cell boilie. The fish tipped the scales at 20lbs 5oz!

Local rod Jack Lord fished from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this superb condition Ghost Common Carp which fell for a Cell boilie. The fish tipped the scales at 21lbs 4oz!

Many fish, too many to list individually, in the mid to late teens range have been taken using various baits although sweeter baits like banoffee, coconut, pineapple and strawberry have attracted the most interest!

 Up on the Match Lake sport was also good.

Travis Heyward fished an overnighter from peg 1 and was rewarded with 15 Carp including his personal best of 9lbs 10oz! All Heywards fish fell to Mainline Hybrid offered in the reeded margins.

Carp have shown in numbers with many anglers reporting large fish feeding in the margins during the late evening as the sun drops!

Lee Hunt took plenty of large Skimmers and Roach on his top two offering pellet and maggot in the margins of peg 16.


Some very large Skimmers have been reported on both lakes this week.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 1/6

Catches continued on both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake produced some great sport with anglers taking fish from most pegs.

Wayne Hockley fished from peg 5 and hit into a fine Catfish which proved to be his personal best at 30lbs 1oz! Hockley has managed to bank a Catfish on each of his visits so far this year! The fish fell to a Banoffee boilie tipped with a hi vis pop up and offered towards the central bar!

Fishing partner Scott Bryant wasn’t left empty handed as he banked four Carp to 16lbs 2oz from peg 4 all of which fell to homemade garlic boilies!

Andy Handshaw took a nice Cat of 21lbs 2oz and was also snapped off by a “very large Cat” despite “beefing” up his tackle after losing fish last week!

Jim Tippler also banked a Catfish of 15lbs 5oz from peg 12 during a short session of margin fishing! Tipler fished a piece of pop up foam soaked in Korda Goo.

Alec Jones banked his first Catfish from peg 16 and was overjoyed when the scales hit 24lbs 3oz! The fish fell to a Cell boilie offered in the margins.

Perry Northeast chose peg 16 for an overnighter and was rewarded with a beautiful Common Koi of 21lbs 2oz which took a Cell boilie.

Local rod Perry Northeast fished a Cell boilie from peg 16 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this beautifully coloured Common Koi which tipped the scales at 21lbs 2oz!

 The top Match Lake also fished very well with multiple catches reported.

Roddy Metcalfe took 15 Carp from the margins of peg 17 later in the day during a short session.

Tim Slim netted a fine bag of Carp from peg 10 on 6mm pellet whilst visitor Phil Jifford took an estimated 100lbs bag of Silvers from peg 12.

With school holidays upon us there were plenty of younger anglers enjoying the sport. Silvers responded well to maggot offered up in the water while Carp and Bream took pellet or small chunks of luncheon meat offered a little deeper!

The Lake has had some more maintenance to the islands and margins with much of the overhanging branches and bushes cut back to allow better access for anglers baits!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 25/5

Both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery produced some great sport for anglers enjoying the better weather days!

The Specimen Lake saw Catfish and Carp taking baits from both deep and shallow water pegs.

Catfish of 25lbs 4oz and 21lbs 9oz fell to luncheon meat baits offered from peg 15 by visitor Brain Griffiths. Grittiths had not hooked a Catfish before so he was overjoyed!

Matt Feakes enjoyed hectic sport from peg 1 banking 7 fish, 6 Carp and a single Cat.
All the fish were high teens or early twentys and fell to Cell boilies.

Gordon Batt took 6 fish, all Carp, from peg 6 with baits offered under the overhanging trees.

Paul Baker fished peg 12 and netted a mirror of 17lbs 8oz on his first visit.

Jay Harper took a brace of Carp to 17lbs 4oz form peg 10 whilst Peter Hoare took a couple of Carp to 17lbs from peg 9.

At the time of writing the Carp have not yet spawned on this lake so we are expecting some BIG fish to come to the net over the next few days!

The Match Lake also fished well with Carp and Silvers responding to baits offered at various depths.

Rod Metcalfe connected with plenty of fish from the dam wall pegs during several short visits.


Silvers fell to maggot and castor offered shallow with bags to the 60lbs mark reported!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 18/5

Towards the end of the week the fish started to spawn in the lakes at Town Parks Fishery.
Before that began, some lovely fish came to the net.

The Specimen Lake saw anglers enjoying sport from most pegs with the fish taking various baits offered.

Peg 12 saw Town Parks regular Mark Hill bank his first Catfish and a good Common Carp both of which fell to Cell boilies.

Owen Hartmink made his first visit to peg 2 and got snapped off by several Catfish before banking a fine Mirror Carp of 17lbs 9oz. The fish fell to a Banoffee boilie tipped with artificial corn and fished tight to the main island.

Peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery saw Owen Hartmink fish his first session! After loosing a brace of Catfish Hartmink hooked into this fine Mirror Carp which fell for his Banoffee Boilie!

Jack Goodland had a good session from peg 15 netting 6 fish, all over 15lbs including a Common of 22lbs 5oz and a Catfish of 21lbs 14oz.

Torquay rod Conor Nettleton banked a fine Mirror of 22lbs 8oz within 10 minutes of setting up on peg 6. Nettleton cast towards the small island directly in front of the swim and took the fish with a floater!

Town Parks Fishery regular Conor Nettleton moved into peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery and had this beautiful Mirror Carp on the bank within 10 minutes. The fish fell to a floater offered by the small island in front of the swim.

Gordon “Gorby” Batt visited peg 6 previously in the day and took a brace of Mirrors to 19lbs 11oz. Small plum wafters proved irresistible!

Town Parks Fishery regular Gordon “Gorby” Batt carried on his recent run of good fish by taking this lovely Mirror Carp of 19lbs 11oz! The fish fell to a Plum Wafter offered by the island!

The top Match Lake provided fast and furious action at times with 100lbs plus bags reported by several anglers.

Roddy Metcalfe fished the dam wall and took huge net of Carp just as the sun was dropping behind the hills. Dead Red Maggot fished on the waggler around the 4 foot mark proved effective.

Regular Jon Haddon chose peg 12 and banked several Carp, all of which were in superb condition.

This beautiful little Mirror Carp was one of several fine condition Carp taken by local rod Jon Haddon on peg 12!

 Tim Fallon fished overnight from peg 10 and netted 10 Carp to double figures most of which were taken from around the island.

Large bags of Silvers have been reported form most pegs with both experienced and novice anglers enjoying the sport!

Lee Hunt decided to fish for Silvers rather than Carp in temperatures of 24 degrees and made the right choice as he got into the Skimmers taken around 25lbs of fish on maggot!

Travis Haywood fished from peg 1 and banked five Carp on Tutti Frutti and Hybrid boilies.
The fish took baits offered in the reeded margins and went to 9lbs 3oz!

The Fishery is open all over the Bank Holiday weekend and the shop has a full stock of fresh and frozen baits!
