Towards the end of the week both lakes at Town Parks Fishery
saw the fish spawning.
Before the spawning commenced fishing was good with plenty
of fish coming to the net on both lakes.
On the top Match Lake Carp spent the warmer days sunbathing
on the surface with the fish responding to “floaters”. As the sun dropped the
fish moved to the margins and anglers fishing within a few feet of the foliage
found them feeding well!
Rod Metcalfe fished the “dobbing” method with his bread bait
sinking slowly with the weight of a small shot attached near the hook. The Carp
seized the bait as the bread dropped past them and up to 20 fish per session
came to the net!
The Fishery held its annual “Carers Day” in lovely sunshine.
Organised by Torbay Council the day gives Carers in the community a chance to
fish and relax away from their usual routines. Silvers showed in numbers with
everybody taking fish with maggots.
On the Specimen Lake the Catfish carried on feeding whilst
the Carp got on with spawning.
Once again Pete Lake was in the action when he hooked and
banked a Cat of 27lbs whilst fishing for Bream on very light gear!
On peg 7 Plymouth rod John Lamble celebrated after targeting
and banking his personal best Cat of 29lbs 2oz!
Also into the Cats were Trevor and Alan Ogden. Fishing from
3 on his birthday Alan banked a beauty of 23lbs 8oz which was his first Cat
while Trevor, on 5 also banked his first at 20lbs dead!
Carp also showed with best of the week a fine Ghostie Common
of 23lbs 9oz taken from peg 14 by visitor Graham Sloan.
With spawning now over the fish will come back on the feed
with some great sport expected over the coming weeks!
