Plenty of action was
reported on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.
The Specimen Lake
produced great sport with the Catfish and Carp on the feed. Several Cats came
to the bank with fish to 23lbs 4oz taking various baits.
Matt Conway banked two
Cats of 23lbs 4oz and 16lbs 8oz and a Mirror Carp of 18lbs 5oz.
Zig rigs with Cell
boilies proved irresistible.
Phil Byng had another
successful session taking his second Cat of the season at 21lbs 7oz.
Local rod Phil Byng banked his second Catfish of his season form peg 9 at Town Parks Fishery. A cell boilie fished mid water tempted the fish which was 20lbs 7oz! |
Dave Grylls also had a
good trip to peg 2 taking 5 Carp to 20lbs 7oz from the island on enigma
boilies.
Town Parks Fishery regular Dave Grylls banked five fish from peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery including this fine Linear Carp! Enigma boilies tempted the fish from the island. |
Matty Feakes continued
to net fish taking 5 good doubles to 17lbs 1oz from peg 5.
This nice Common was taken from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery by Matt Feakes and was one of five fish taken in the session! |

Catch of the week was
undoubtedly by Mike Lock. Lock fished peg 12 for Silvers but connected with
something much bigger. Fishing a light rod with 2lbs 2oz line and a size 20
hook Lock had to battle for over 40 minutes to bring the fish to the net. When
weighed the fish, a lovely scaled Mirror Carp tipped the scales at 17lbs 3oz!! That
fish topped off a great day as Lock also took 50lbs of Skimmers!
The top Match Lake also
saw the anglers enjoying good sport.
Conor Nettleton took 42
Carp during an afternoon and evening session. Nettleton fished from peg 17 flicking
floating pellet towards the main island. Despite heavy cloud and a cutting
North Easterly wind blowing across the swim the Carp responded by quickly
taking the floaters with some fish clearing the water in the rush to feed. The
fishing resembled Summer surface fishing and was quite out of place in the
weather conditions.
Most anglers fishing for
Carp were rewarded with fish although they fed at different depths depending on
the weather conditions.
Medium to large bags of
Silvers have been reported from various pegs with the fish continuing to take
maggot and castor.
Bream have also provided
great sport taking pellet and castor from the deeper water pegs!
Students from Exmouth
College continued to improve their fishing skills with some taking Carp to the
6lbs mark during tutored sessions.
