Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 30/3

Both lakes at Town Parks Fishery responded well to the higher temperatures this week bringing the fish onto the feed. The Specimen Lake produced some great sport with Carp and Catfish taking anglers baits.

Junior Sophie Batt fished with dad, Town Parks regular Gordon initially fishing maggot on the float. After taking a good Bream near the 3lbs mark Sophie also banked numerous Roach to 2lbs! Turning her attention to the Carp she banked 2 fine fish, both personal bests!

First to hit the bank was a Common of 12lbs 8oz which fell to a Cell boilie fished towards the central bar.

Sophie Batt banked 2 personal best weights from peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery. This smaller Common tipped the scales at 13lbs 2oz and fell to a fruity wafter boilie.

During the evening the alarm went off again and a fine, much larger Common, came to the net. Dad Gordon was almost out fished but did manage to take 2 Carp, both Commons to 20lbs 8oz!

Fishing alongside daughter Sophie Gordon Batt banked two Carp including this lovely Common of 20lbs 9oz! The fish fell to a Cell boilie offered towards the central bar.

Matt Feakes fished from peg 2 and banked 6 Carp, all good doubles including a fine Ghostie of 20lbs 1oz. All the fish fell to Cell boilies. Feakes also lost a couple of fish but did manage to net a good Catfish of 22lbs 3oz!

Peg at Town Parks Fishery provided great sport for Matt Feakes who banked 7 fish including this fine Ghost Carp of 20lbs 3oz! 

Town Parks Fishery regular Matt Feakes fished Cell boilies from peg 2 and banked 7 fish including this beautifully marked Mirror.

Plymouth rod Gary Mills fished from peg 5 and took a beautifully coloured Mirror Carp of 17lbs 2oz.

A few Tench are also showing with fish to the 5lbs mark reported from shallower pegs.

The top Match Lake saw some medium to large bags of Silvers taken from various pegs.

Silvers responded to maggot and castor with some bags to the 50lbs mark. Carp continued to take baits offered up in the water with quite a few fish taken with floaters!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 23/3

Carp and Catfish remained on the feed at Town Parks Fishery despite the changeable weather conditions. The Specimen Lake provided great sport with various baits proving effective.

Conor Nettleton continued his run of superb fish banking this fine Common, one of five fish netted, which hit the scales at 22lbs 8oz!

Local rod John Connabeer fished a short session from peg 12 taking three Carp including a fine Ghost Carp of 25lbs 0oz. All Connabeer’s fish fell to Passion Baits 01 boilies with the other Carp coming in at 18lbs 2oz and 15lbs 7oz!

Peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery saw John Connabeer take three Carp during a short session including this superb Ghostie, one of several banked this week. Which weighed in at 25lbs 0oz. The fish fell to a Passion Bait 01 boilie offered in the margins.

Kingsteignton rod Dave Grylls returned to peg 2 and banked 8 Carp and a nice Tench!
Fishing Enigma boilies Grylls fish, all good doubles went to 22lbs 9oz another fine Ghostie!

Town Parks Fishery regular Dave Grylls had a great session from peg 2 banking 9 fish including this superb Ghost Carp of 22lbs 9oz!

Cornwall angler Jim Bowden netted a good Mirror of 22lbs 10oz from peg 7 which fell to Halibut Pellet.

Paignton rod Bob Ineson fished overnight from peg 11 taking 3 Catfish to 19lbs 2oz and a single Carp of 16lbs 1oz! Ineson also lost a much bigger fish, believed to be a big Cat, which ran from the margins of peg 12 up the lake and around the main island before he could strike the hook home!! Once again Halibut Pellet proved irresistible!

Torquay angler Nigel Brooks made his first visit of the season to Town Parks Fishery and hooked into this lovely Mirror Carp which tipped the scales at 22lbs 13oz!

Matt Feakes chose peg 11 and netted 3 Carp to 20lbs 0oz and a good double Catfish all on Cell boilies.

Newton Abbot rod Matt Feakes chose peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery and was rewarded with this beautifully marked Fully Scaled Carp which seized his Cell boilie.

 Meanwhile the Match Lake also fished well with some very good bags of Carp and Silvers reported.

Rod Metcalfe made several visits to the Dam Wall and took up to 15 Carp per visit fishing coarse pellet on the waggler at around the three foot mark.

Alan Jones visited peg 10 and banked 12 Carp from the margins fishing various baits!

Silvers continue to come to maggot and castor fished up in the water but with easterly winds forecast to set in this may well push the fish a little deeper.


Pupils from Exmouth College continued their fishing course fishing pegs 1 to 7. One student on his first visit banked a beautiful 5lbs 8oz Carp from peg 1 using a 4 metre whip with maggot to a size 18 hook and 2lbs 4oz hooklink!!!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 16/3

Plenty of action was reported on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake produced great sport with the Catfish and Carp on the feed. Several Cats came to the bank with fish to 23lbs 4oz taking various baits.

Matt Conway banked two Cats of 23lbs 4oz and 16lbs 8oz and a Mirror Carp of 18lbs 5oz.
Zig rigs with Cell boilies proved irresistible.

Phil Byng had another successful session taking his second Cat of the season at 21lbs 7oz.

Local rod Phil Byng banked his second Catfish of his season form peg 9 at Town Parks Fishery. A cell boilie fished mid water tempted the fish which was 20lbs 7oz!

Dave Grylls also had a good trip to peg 2 taking 5 Carp to 20lbs 7oz from the island on enigma boilies.

Town Parks Fishery regular Dave Grylls banked five fish from peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery including this fine Linear Carp! Enigma boilies tempted the fish from the island.

Matty Feakes continued to net fish taking 5 good doubles to 17lbs 1oz from peg 5.

This nice Common was taken from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery by Matt Feakes and was one of five fish taken in the session!

Catch of the week was undoubtedly by Mike Lock. Lock fished peg 12 for Silvers but connected with something much bigger. Fishing a light rod with 2lbs 2oz line and a size 20 hook Lock had to battle for over 40 minutes to bring the fish to the net. When weighed the fish, a lovely scaled Mirror Carp tipped the scales at 17lbs 3oz!! That fish topped off a great day as Lock also took 50lbs of Skimmers!

Light gear capture of the week at Town Parks Fishery was undoubtedly Mike Locks 17lbs 3oz Mirror taken from peg 11. Lock was fishing for Skimmers with 2lbs 2oz line and a size 20 hook when the fish seized his bait. After a 40 minute battle Lock had the fish in the net!!


The top Match Lake also saw the anglers enjoying good sport.

Conor Nettleton took 42 Carp during an afternoon and evening session. Nettleton fished from peg 17 flicking floating pellet towards the main island. Despite heavy cloud and a cutting North Easterly wind blowing across the swim the Carp responded by quickly taking the floaters with some fish clearing the water in the rush to feed. The fishing resembled Summer surface fishing and was quite out of place in the weather conditions.

Most anglers fishing for Carp were rewarded with fish although they fed at different depths depending on the weather conditions.

Medium to large bags of Silvers have been reported from various pegs with the fish continuing to take maggot and castor.

Bream have also provided great sport taking pellet and castor from the deeper water pegs!


Students from Exmouth College continued to improve their fishing skills with some taking Carp to the 6lbs mark during tutored sessions.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 9/3

Another excellent week of catches at Town Parks Fishery. On the Specimen Lake the Catfish sprang to life as the water temperature rose to 11.3 degrees.

On his first visit of the year Local rod Dan Cummings chose peg 1 to fish to the main island.
During the night his Cell boilie was taken by something big and, after an extended battle a fine 30lbs 0oz Catfish was on the bank!

Peg 6 saw Richard Dainton bank a fine personal best Common Carp of 24lbs 1oz. The fish fell to a Coconut boilie and Pineapple pop up snowman.

After a long layoff Dan Pearce fished a short session from peg 1 and did not leave disappointed! Pearce banked two good Carp, a fine Mirror of 24lbs 2oz and a Common of 19lbs 3oz! Cell boilies fished towards the central bar near the island found the fish!!

Dan Pearce banked a brace of fine fish from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery including this lovely Common Carp of 19lbs 3oz!

Local rod Dan Pearce banked this fine condition Mirror Carp of 24lbs 2oz from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a Cell boilie fished close to the main island.

Exeter angler Andy Western fished the deeper water of peg 12 and banked 4 carp to 17lbs 4oz and a Catfish of 17lbs 1oz. Once again Cell boilies proved effectivel!

Conor Nettleton fished several short sessions taking fish to the 17lbs mark on each visit.

On the upper Match Lake sport was also good.

Newton Abbot rod Lee Hunt had a frantic session fishing to the island in front of peg 15.
Hunt fished a single pellet with a small bomb and immediately connected with the Carp.
Stopping counting after the seventeenth fish came to the net Hunt had trouble lifting his keepnet at the end of the day!!

Roddy Metcalfe continued his recent good run of fish taking up to 15 Carp a session.

Some of the Carp have been up in the water taking coarse pellet offered at the 3 foot mark!
Several anglers have reported bags of 10 Carp or more during day sessions.


Some fine Silvers have come to the net with one unnamed angler reporting a personal best Roach of 3lbs 1oz which fell to maggot fished mid water. Bags to the 40lbs mark have started to show with maggot and castor proving successful.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 2/3

The Lakes at Town Parks Fishery continued to produce great sport for anglers this week.

The Specimen Lake saw plenty of anglers enjoying sport with an early Catfish making an appearance!

Peg 13 saw local rod Phil Byng fish only his second trip to the lake. Byng fished a coconut and tutti frutti snowman close to the old outflow pipe and was rewarded with his first ever Catfish and personal best weight of 18lbs 2oz!

Plymouth rods Dennis Assall and Gary Mills fished 9 and 10 as a birthday treat for Assall.
Assall banked the first fish of the trip 14lbs 1oz which he followed with another fine Common of 22lbs 8oz. Mills had the last laugh when his alarm screamed off and he banked a superb Common of 23lbs dead. Spicy crab and garlic boilies fished with a coconut pop up did the trick!

Local rod Mark Hill celebrated his birthday with a trip to Town Parks Fishery. His trip was worthwhile after he baked this lovely condition Mirror Carp of 15lbs 11oz which seized his Essential IB boilie.

Another angler enjoying a birthday weekend trip was Mark Hill. After a recent blank spell Hill was determined to net a fish!! His prayers were answered when he struck into a fine Mirror of 15lbs 11oz which had taken the Mainline Essential IB boilie fished mid water.

Plymouth junior Marley Duckett fished his first session from peg 12 placing his Cell and Fish boilies in the margins. Duckett banked a nice Common of 13lbs 9oz!

Torquay rod Mark Warren fished a night from peg 10 in atrocious weather conditions but had plenty of action. Warren banked four Carp to 17lbs 3oz before midnight and also lost a good fish at the net which he believed was a large Catfish!! Cell boilies proved irresistible!

John Connabeer grabbed a quick day to fish from peg 10 and banked a beautifully marked Linear which also took Cell boilies!

On the top Match Lake Roddy Metcalfe continued to take fish. During several short visits Metcalfe took up to 10 Carp with some to the 10lbs mark. Coarse pellet on the waggler fished around the 3 foot mark continued to prove effective!


A group of students from Exmouth College fished maggot on margin whips from sheltered pegs. All the students took fish with some fine Roach showing to the pound and three quarter mark!
