Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 1/7

Overcast conditions throughout the week provided good sport on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The top Match Lake saw anglers enjoying frantic sport at times as the fish went on and off the feed.

Regular Rod Metcalf made several visits to various pegs and found the Carp feeding quite shallow and happy to take coarse pellet offered around the four foot mark.

Bream again showed in numbers with some nice fish to the 5lbs mark reported.

Pupils from Paignton Community College enjoyed daily visits to the Fishery during activities week with Roach, Rudd and Perch freely taking maggot offered up in the water. Many of the pupils had never fished before but everyone attending banked numerous fish!

Paignton Community College pupils Leah Crawford, Jasmine Peters and Courtney Booy celebrate after winning the daily challenge set during the Colleges Activity Week. The girls caught around 10lbs of Roach and Rudd during the hour and a half competition and each won a telescopic whip donated by the Fishery.

On the lower Specimen Lake some good fish came to the bank.

Cornwall rods Paul Oliver and Tabatha Goodwill fished a 24hr session from peg 5 and banked 8 fish between them. Four Carp and four Catfish were taken on luncheon meat the best 19lbs 3oz!

Bristol rod Peter King fished a 24hr session from peg 14 and was rewarded with four Carp, the best a fine 22lbs 4oz. All King’s fish fell for pineapple boilies offered in the margins.

On the opposite side of the Lake Exeter rod Chris Bryant banked two fine twenty’s on popped up Luncheon meat. Bryant’s fish tipped the scales at 23lbs 1oz and 20lbs 12oz and fell for bait offered mid water.

Some very nice Tench have been reported from various pegs including reports of a fine specimen 10lbs 4oz which fell to corn offered for the Carp!
