Good catches were reported form both lakes at Town
Parks Fishery this week.
The lower Specimen Lake provided sport from most
pegs.
Peg 1 saw Matt Drury testing out new baits for a
bait manufacturer with great success. Drury banked 7 Carp during his session
with fish freely taking the baits placed mid water.
Local rod Dan Smart banked a fine personal best
Mirror Carp which tipped the scales at 20lbs 1oz! Smart’s squid boilie tempted
the fish.
Good Catfish came to the bank the best reported was
23lbs 4oz from peg 14 that fell to luncheon meat.
On the top Match Lake large bags of Carp were taken
from dam wall pegs and from the side of the main island from 10.
A group of students from Kevicc, Totnes visited
daily for tutored sessions.
Several banked Carp to the 5lbs mark with one lucky
student taking six Carp during one session!
Maggot and Castor continued to tempt the Silvers
with a couple of 100lbs + bags reported.
On Friday
27th July Devon Firemen Steve Wright and Kevin Carter start their
marathon Fish-A-Thon in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.
During the seven day
event Wright and Carter aim to catch 1000lbs of fish 5lbs and over. This will
clearly take a lot of doing but the boys are confident that, with helpful advice
from the regular anglers they can beat their target.
Collecting buckets
are at the Fishery and everybody is welcome to call in and support the
challenge and chat to the lads.
You can also donate
to The Fire Fighters Charity via the Fishery’s website at www.townparks.net.
Please help us to
raise as much money as we can – you never know when you may need the Fire Service!
