Catfish
dominated the catches on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.
Some cracking
fish came to the net in the low to mid 30 pound bracket!
Exeter rod
Lawrence Jones had a good session on peg 12 banking four Cats to 33lbs 2oz and
three double figure Carp to 22lbs 4oz! All the fish fell to halibut pellet
offered in the reeded margins.
Local 11 year
old James Tippler also had a great session fishing with his dad from peg 9.
After losing
a very large fish during the afternoon, (which he blamed his dad for!!!)
Tippler fished through the night and, after plenty of bites hooked into his
first Catfish.
After an
extended battle with the fish, which took a Wild Berry boilie, it hit the
scales at a fantastic 21lbs 2oz! Tippler was elated and vowed to return for
something bigger!
Local regular
Anthony Smith fished Halibut pellet from peg 10 and banked seven good doubles. Three
Cats came to the net to 28lbs 3oz and four Carp to 19lbs 8oz also fell for the
bait which was offered mid water!
Sid Trebell
was going to fish from peg 5 but, at the last minute changed to peg 4 which was
a wise move. During the night Trebell netted 5 Catfish to 23lbs 4oz and
followed this by taking another three Cats during the day! Once again Halibut
Pellet tipped with pop up sweetcorn proved effective!
Many other
fish, too many to list individually, came to the net during the week that saw
most pegs filled to capacity.
Several nice
Tench to 7lbs 3oz were also reported from various pegs.
On the Match
Lake Carp continued to fish well.
Regular Rod
Metcalfe took 28 on a visit to peg 10 alternating between the waggler and bomb
as the fish moved around! Coarse pellet tempted the fish.
Conor
Nettleton lost count of how many Carp were netted during a 48hr stint with some
very nice doubles reaching the net!
Silvers
continued to take maggot and Castor.
A group of
students for Paignton Sports and Community College enjoyed great sport taking
Roach to the 2lbs mark as well as some decent Rudd and some very nice Perch.
The students
offered maggot from 4 metre Whips around the 3 foot deep mark on size 16 hooks.
With ideal
weather conditions great sport should be had from both lakes.
