TOWN PARKS FISHERY CATCH REPORT W/E 27/1

Fish continued to feed at Town Parks Fishery as the weather turned warmer this week.

The lower Specimen Lake saw anglers enjoying sport from several pegs as the fish moved around the Lake looking for food. Peg 1 saw plenty of action with Carp nuzzling the margins under the overhanging Willow tree.

Conor Nettleton enjoyed a hectic session banking 5 Carp placing his Cell boilies where the fish were feeding. All the fish were double figures, the best 17lbs 8oz!

The previous day Tristian Smith banked a superb Mirror of 25lbs 4oz fishing the same area although two artificial pieces of pop up corn tempted the fish on that occasion!

A little further down the Southern bank on peg 14, Kingsbridge rod Richard Clarkson fished white chocolate boilies close to the margins. During the night Clarkson hooked three “good size” Carp but unfortunately, to his dismay, all the fish snagged around the old outflow tube and pulled free!

Brixham regular Andy Handshaw fished from peg 2 using his newly acquired Nash retractable 9 ft Carp rods. Handshaw hooked two Carp during the night and, although neither reached the net, his rods got a good test!

On the top Match Lake Silvers and Carp were feeding although more sporadically then of late.

Regular Rod Metcalf continued to find the fish taking Carp or Roach on most of his visits. Corn offered mid depth proved effective.

Silvers were particularly “peggie” although some anglers reported small bags of decent sized fish falling to maggot or pellet.

With warmer weather now settled in the fish should continue to search for Winter pickings!

Torquay rod Gordon Batt took a nice Linear Carp which, although not in the twentys, was in fine condition!

On the upper Match Lake Regular Rod Metcalf continued to find Carp from various peg although the fish were elusive at times. After an afternoon of Silver fishing Metcalf noticed movement in the reeds bordering the car park as he was packing up. Although the light was fading Metcalf fished a single piece of white sweetcorn tight to the reeds from his pole at 16mts. After a few minutes Metcalf had banked a sizable Carp and followed this one with three more!

Sunday regular Fred Rowe managed to bank a couple of good Carp from the same peg although one retrieve was made more difficult as Rowe’s line had frozen to the rings of his rod as the daytime temperature hovered around freezing!!

Some nice Roach were reported deep near the bottom as were the Bream.

With the colder weather expected to remain for the foreseeable future the fish should hopefully stay on the feed!
