Colder weather produced testing fishing conditions at town parks
fishery. The top match lake saw fish coming to the bank most taken from on, or
near the bottom.
Junior Perry Northeast had a fantastic afternoon session taking 7 carp
from peg 3. Casting to the tip of the adjacent island Northeast took all the
fish on small chunks of luncheon meat, the best fish 12lbs 1oz!
Fishing from peg 7 near the inflow Richard Clarkson also took 7 carp on
pellet.
Rod Metcalf had little luck from peg 16 taking only a couple of
skimmers but a late move to peg 1 produced 5 carp. Metcalf’s fish were taken on
a single piece of corn tight in the reeds with only a couple of freebies
offered.
Bream have showed in numbers taking pellet offered on the bottom, one
fish took a 10mm boilie fished for carp!
The lower specimen lake saw anglers using different tactics to attract
the fish but anglers fishing single baits had the better action.
Once again john Connabeer fished a day session from peg 10 and banked a
beautiful common of 23lbs 8oz . The fish fell to a single white pop up offered
mid water, in fact it was the same washed out pop up that helped Connabeer bank
several double figure carp recently!
Town Parks Fishery regular John Connabeer banked this beautiful 23lbs 8oz Mirror Carp from peg 10. The fish fell to a single white pop up offered mid water. |
Carl Pegg fished from peg 5 and
lost a good fish after a 25 minute battle after the fish snagged around the
main island.
Big fish have been seen moving and jumping around the lake mainly
midwater. Hopefully now we have more settled weather conditions and the severe
rain of late has passed the fish will return to normal feeding patterns as the
water settles down!
