Testing times on the match lake this week with anglers having to work hard to produce fish. The dam wall proved to be most productive with several good catches of medium sized carp coming to the net. Innovative baits were to be the order of the day with most fish falling to natural baits, maggot, popped up bread, caster and hemp, etc.
Several regular anglers reported good catches of both carp and silvers from the margin areas around pegs 1 and 20.
The shallower water at pegs 9 and 8 produced some decent bags of bream which fell to casters and maggot.
The specimen lake produced catfish to just over 20lbs from the deeper water around pegs 12 and 13 with large halibut pellets being the preferred bait.
Peg 10 produced a catfish of just over 20lbs.

Many anglers reported activity around the margins of pegs 5,6 and 7, with several decent carp being lost at the net.
With the recent change in the weather, the specimen lake is expected to produce some good catches in the coming weeks with fewer anglers attending and less free food entering the water.
