The lower Specimen Lake came on form with many
anglers reporting fish taking various baits.
Bristol
angler Rod Jones fished an overnighter from peg 14 and was rewarded with
3 Catfish and two Carp. The Cats fell to luncheon meat offered mid water, the
best a good 25lbs 7oz. Jones’s Carp took tutti frutti 10mm boilies fished in
the margins as daylight broke. First on the mat was a good Linear of 22lbs 4oz
and this was followed by a hard fighting Common of 25lbs 8oz!
Mainline Cell boilies helped regular Gordon Batt
have one of his best sessions recently banking no less than 10 fish from peg 6.
All the fish were over 15lbs and in immaculate condition. Best of the bunch a
fine Fully Scaled Carp which tipped the scales at 22lbs 8oz.
Fishing partner, local rod Matt Feakes had similar
hectic action banking 9 fish to 17lbs 2oz from peg 2.
Regular Tris Green float fished worm from peg 10
during a short evening session and took two very good Catfish of 26lbs 8oz and
27lbs 2oz!
Plymouth rod Tom Purdy had a good day session taking
three Carp to 19lbs 8oz on homemade boilies.
On the upper Match Lake Silvers continued to show in
numbers with some very large bags reported.
Carp were more sporadic but local rod Chris Walters
connected with 25 to the 7lbs mark from peg 8.
Fishing pellet on a waggler near the inflow, which
has been fast running due to the recent wet weather, Edwards lost numerous
other Carp which fought hard in the conditions!
Rod Metcalf fished to the rear of the main island
from peg 10 and banked twenty good Carp to the 10lbs mark! Pellet proved
effective.
Another regular Pete Allen fished overnight on peg
10 taking 38 Carp to 9lbs 8oz on coarse pellet. A large number of Carp were
“Ghosties”
