Another week of excellent catches saw many anglers
taking their personal bests at Town Parks Fishery.
Conor Nettleton fished 24hrs on the Specimen Lake
for the first time after perfecting his technique on the upper Match Lake. Fishing
from peg 6 Nettleton placed his baits with help of his bait boat at various
points around the shallower water. Soon after, one rod screamed off and after a
15 minute battle Nettleton’s first ever Catfish was on the mat weighing in at 19lbs
2oz.
Elated with his initial catch he re baited and
banked another two Cat’s before his alarms went off again. This run almost took
other anglers lines out but, after a 45 minute battle a fine Catfish of 29lbs
1oz was in the weigh sling.
Later that night Nettleton also took a personal best
Common Carp of 23lbs 5oz.
All the fish fell to halibut pellet.
Local rod Rob Boyne fished peg 11 and was,
frustratingly, snapped off on less than four occasions by very large Catfish.
Plenty of Carp, too many to list individually, came
to the bank with many in the mid twenty’s falling to sweeter flavoured boilies.
On the upper Match Lake Carp fed well with 20 to 30
fish per session reported.
Roddy Metcalf made several visits to pegs along the
dam and was rewarded with Carp taking pellet offered both on the waggler and
also on the pole towards the island.
Bream fell to sweetcorn with some cracking fish
taken from peg 3 just short of the islands.
Roach and Rudd are still taking maggot and castor
quiet shallow despite the colder nights.
