Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 5/2

Silvers continued to show in numbers during the first part of the week on the Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery.

Falling for maggot and caster, many anglers reported good mixed bags taken mainly from the deeper water pegs.

Brixham rod Brenda Morrisey “emptied” the lake taking a very large bag of Roach from peg 13. All fish came from around the four feet depth and fell to tares!

Bream also came to the bank, sweetcorn proving successful.

Carp proved somewhat elusive although a couple were taken on pellet from the dam wall.

The lower Specimen Lake also produced a couple of Carp before the colder weather came in.

Plymouth rod Carl Griffiths fished an overnighter from peg 14 and was rewarded with two Carp, the best a Mirror of 20lbs 2oz which was reported to be in excellent condition. Once again white chocolate boilies fished mid water lured the fish.

During the second half of the week the temperatures dropped, Friday night saw minus 7 and eventually both lakes froze over briefly.

By Sunday both waters were clear again with anglers enjoying limited sport although fish were clearly on the feed again.

With higher temperatures forecast for the week ahead catches should return to normal pretty quickly.

The Fishery’s Winter maintenance programme continues apace. Some trees have been cleared from both lakes allowing better access for anglers and some pegs have been rebuilt. The new sun terrace adjacent to the shop is expected to be completed soon so anglers will be able to sit and enjoy the view.
