Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 26/6


Good catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

On the Specimen Lake the Catfish showed in numbers.

Cornwall rod Tabatha Goodwill had a great session from peg 11. Seven fish came to the bank including some good Cat’s to high teens! 

Tabatha Goodwill banked her personal best Catfish from peg 11 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to luncheon meat fished in the margins.


Cornwall rod Tabatha Goodwill also banked this fine condition Carp from peg 11 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to luncheon meat offered mid water.


Mark Warren took two Carp to 15lbs 1oz and a personal best Catfish of 19lbs 3oz which fell to a Cell dumbbell.

Nick Soloman chose peg two and fished a Japanese Squid hookbait which produced a personal best Cat of 16lbs 2oz!

Dave Osmond continued to take fish from peg six. Four Cats and two Carp to 22lbs during a single night session!

On the upper Match Lake Carp came to the bank in numbers. Regular Rod Metcalf took 19 during a 2 hour session fishing the method to the back of the island from peg 10.

Large bags of Bream were also reported mainly from midwater marks between the island from pegs 1 to 7.

Some nice Tench were taken during early sessions in the shallower water pegs.

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 19/06


Despite the continuing changeable weather catches at Town Parks Fishery improved considerably.

Both lakes produced great sport with some fine catches reported.

On the top Match Lake Rob Metcalf fished a couple of short sessions on the method with 6mm coarse pellet to great effect. Over 30 Carp to double figures came to the bank during each session which Metcalf fished from different pegs!!

Chris Leaman fished with brother Nick from pegs 9 and 10 and lost count of the number of Carp they banked over 36hrs. Fishing single halibut pellet they took over 43 Carp, the best around 8lbs! It was Nicks first visit to the Fishery having only caught Roach before!

Many anglers have reported some fine condition Crucians coming to the bank on a variety of baits all around the lake. 

On the Specimen Lake plenty of Catfish came to the bank, one angler banking 9 during a night session!

Some very large Catfish have had the upper hand snapping angler’s main lines one angler loosing three rigs during one night!

Alan Devonport fished from peg 9 and took eight Catfish and three Carp during a 24hr session. All Devonport’s fish fell to cell boilies.

South Brent rod David Hine visited peg 9 on only his second visit to the Fishery and banked his personal best Carp a stunning Common of 23lbs 1oz! This was complimented with a Mirror of 16lbs 3oz that followed shortly afterwards. Both Hine’s fish fell to luncheon meat offered over a bed of halibut pellet fished mid water.
Later in the week Hine visited the Match Lake for a night session and banked 21 Carp to 9lbs using the same method!

Dave Tozer had a very successful visit to peg 9 taking seven Carp including a fine Platinum Koi of 17lbs 12oz! Sweetcorn proving irresistible. All fish fell to baits sited close to the main island.

Torquay rod Dave Tozer banked this beautiful Platinum Ghost Carp from peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to sweetcorn offered tight to the island.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 12/6


Plenty of Carp came to the bank on the Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Rob Metcalf made several short visits to dam wall pegs and offered coarse pellet up in the water.
He was rewarded with good Carp bags of up to twelve fish!!

Richard James fished pellet from peg 16 and took 15 Carp, some nice doubles, which fell to halibut offered close to the margins.

Students from South Devon College fished a tutored session on the sheltered southern pegs with all the students banking numerous Roach and Rudd to the 2lb mark. The winning team of three all received prizes from the college!!

On the lower Specimen Lake Catfish again showed in numbers and some nice specimens to the mid twenty’s were banked. Many anglers also experienced some hard runs which resulted with the fish breaking free after snagging the lines!
Carp came to the bank, many tempted with Cell boilies, Chris Owen taking three, the best 22lbs 4oz from peg 5.

Some large Tench have been taken from various pegs around the lake – Steve Clements banking three to 8lbs 3oz from 12.

One fish of note was a fine 5lbs 5oz eel which fell to worm offered for Catfish from peg 8 by Colin Jones, a visitor from Wales.

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 5/6


Improved catches were the order of the day at Town Parks Fishery this week.
Both lakes fished better than of late with fish feeding freely especially later in the day.
Catfish have shown in numbers with some anglers catching their first specimen.
One of these anglers was Crediton rod Chrissy Woulahan who banked a superb 27lbs 11oz Cat form peg 12. The fish fell to luncheon meat offered tight to the margin.

South Brent angler Neil Willisson also took his first Cat, a good fish at 21lbs 2oz which fell to a snowman boilie set up!

South Brent angler Neil Willison banked his first Catfish from peg 5 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish, which tipped the scales at 21lbs 2oz fell to a snowman set up offered mid water.

Bob Ineson fished an overnighter on peg 6 taking three Carp, 21lbs 8oz, 18lbs 1oz and 17lbs 2oz all falling to a cell pop up.
Stoke Fleming Coastguard Jai Prettyjohns fished between “shouts” and banked his personal best Common Carp of 21lbs 4oz. This was complimented with two further fish all falling to “yellow peril” boilies.


Local rod Jai Prettyjohns banked his personal best Common Carp of 21lbs 4oz form peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a cell pop up.


Kevin Locke banked three Carp from peg 9 whilst Richard Jenks took a 19lbs 2oz Carp and 16lbs 8oz Cat from peg 7.

The upper Match Lake saw good bags of Carp and Silvers from most pegs.

The annual Darbyshire Dabblers versus the Seafield memorial match took place in very hot and sunny conditions. The Dabblers ran out eventual winners taking back the trophy won by the Seafield last year for the first time!

Total weight for the Dabblers was 179.2 kilos with Mick Aylward taking the individual top prize!!
Tuition was held for various groups throughout the week with all participants taking Roach and Rudd from up in the water on maggot!!

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 30/05

Testing fishing conditions were encountered this week on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery although fish did come to the bank.

The Specimen Lake gave some good Catfish sport with several anglers connecting with fish, some for the first time! Carp were feeding very sporadically and watercraft was important to outwit them.

Visitor James Levett banked a nice 19lb 12oz Common fishing a cell boilie from peg five whilst Dave Osmond once again showed everybody how to do it taking three Carp and a Catfish  to 21lbs 4oz in three hours!!

On the top Match Rob Metcalf fished several short sessions taking up to twelve Carp on pellet fished up in the water.

Several groups have held tutored sessions this week with plenty of Roach, Rudd and Perch coming to the bank after taking maggot offered mid water.

Fishing conditions look good and some good bags are expected this week.
