Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 16/1

Better fishing conditions helped improve catch rates at Town Parks Fishery this week. Both lakes fished much better than of late with most anglers connecting with fish.

The Specimen Lake saw fish moving freely around with some large fish jumping to clean their gills after sitting on the bottom of the lake during the freeze!

Ian Ross fished peg 10 using various baits and banked four Carp, the best an 18lbs 1oz Mirror. Regular James Hubble cast tight to the island from peg 9 and took two Carp to 17lbs 8oz. Tony Giffin fished peg 1 towards the island and took a 17lbs 1oz Common on a 20mm chocolate melt boilie.

Some fish are still a little hesitant to take the bait, releasing immediately any pressure is applied.

The top Match Lake provided the faster sport with plenty of Silvers and Carp coming to the bank.

Anglers took fish from most swims, even the shallower water ones! Bob Hewitt fished peg 20 and banked a fine 9lbs 1oz Mirror on luncheon meat! White or Light coloured 7mm pellet have also been working very well!

This Sunday will see the Specimen Lake Charity match in aid of Devon Air Ambulance take place. Cash and tackle prizes are up for grabs with a 7.45 am draw and a couple of pegs are still available at the time of writing! Contact the Fishery on 01803 523133 for further details.

Next Sunday, 30th January it’s the turn of anglers competing on the top Match Lake for the same Charity. Again, there is a 7.45 am draw with fishing from 8.15 until rods out at 4.15.

For further information or, to book a peg contact the Fishery.
