Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 9/12

Better weather conditions saw anglers enjoying good sport at Town Parks Fishery this week.
The Specimen Lake fished sporadically but some good fish came to the bank.

Returning after a long coarse fishing lay off Matt Skelly fished sweetcorn from peg 9 and was rewarded with a beautiful scaled Ghost Carp that tipped the scales at 21lbs 6oz.

Local rod Matt Skelly fished peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery after a long fishing lay off and was rewarded with this beautiful scaled Mirror Ghost Carp which tipped the scales at 21lbs 6oz. The fish which was in fine condition fell to sweetcorn offered mid water.

Skelley’s fishing partner also banked a good mid double Carp during the day session. As Skelley’s fish was being released Geoff Weston’s alarms screamed off on the opposite bank. As Geoff’s fishing partner Roy Kennedy was closer to the rods he hit the fish and banked it, a 14lbs 8oz Mirror.

Jack Oakden fished his 10mt pole from peg 7 chasing good Roach. After lightly feeding the swim for a couple of hours Oakden started to hook fish. The following hour saw him take over 20 Roach, smallest around 1lb and the best a good 2lbs 5oz!!!

John Webster visited peg one and fished a white pop up midwater. Webster banked a fine condition Common of 16lbs 8oz! Double maggot offered on the bottom proving effective.

On the upper Match Lake maggot or white pellet fished on, or near the bottom tempted the fish.

Lee Holding fished his pole from peg 20 dropping double maggot on the bottom. Good Roach were taken throughout the day and several large Skimmers, and a couple of small Carp also came to the net later in the day.

Town parks fishery Catch report w/e 2/12

Colder weather produced testing fishing conditions at town parks fishery. The top match lake saw fish coming to the bank most taken from on, or near the bottom.

Junior Perry Northeast had a fantastic afternoon session taking 7 carp from peg 3. Casting to the tip of the adjacent island Northeast took all the fish on small chunks of luncheon meat, the best fish 12lbs 1oz!

Fishing from peg 7 near the inflow Richard Clarkson also took 7 carp on pellet.

Rod Metcalf had little luck from peg 16 taking only a couple of skimmers but a late move to peg 1 produced 5 carp. Metcalf’s fish were taken on a single piece of corn tight in the reeds with only a couple of freebies offered.

Bream have showed in numbers taking pellet offered on the bottom, one fish took a 10mm boilie fished for carp!

The lower specimen lake saw anglers using different tactics to attract the fish but anglers fishing single baits had the better action.

Once again john Connabeer fished a day session from peg 10 and banked a beautiful common of 23lbs 8oz . The fish fell to a single white pop up offered mid water, in fact it was the same washed out pop up that helped Connabeer bank several double figure carp recently!

Town Parks Fishery regular John Connabeer banked this beautiful 23lbs 8oz Mirror Carp from peg 10. The fish fell to a single white pop up offered mid water.

Carl Pegg  fished from peg 5 and lost a good fish after a 25 minute battle after the fish snagged around the main island.

Big fish have been seen moving and jumping around the lake mainly midwater. Hopefully now we have more settled weather conditions and the severe rain of late has passed the fish will return to normal feeding patterns as the water settles down!
