Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 15/4

Good catches were reported from the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Catfish came to the bank in numbers and Carp and Tench readily took anglers baits.

Fishing peg 6 local rod Mark Bielby had a great overnight session banking four Carp, including three personal best’s, a first Catfish of 19lbs 1oz and tipped the session off with a good Tench of 6lbs 8oz. Cell boilies tipped with artificial sweetcorn and offered in various locations around the peg proved successful although a very large Catfish did run Bielby all the way to the main island before snapping off!

Matty Feakes made his first visit to peg 10 for a while and was rewarded with a good Common of 21lbs 3oz and a large Catfish although no weight was reported.

Regular John Webster tried peg 2 for a change and ended his day banking a nice Common of 16lbs 4oz.

Plenty of good sized Carp came to the bank, too many to list individual catches!

Meanwhile the top Match Lake also saw many Carp come to the net, pegs 10 and 14 to 20 producing the better multiple catches!

With school holidays it was nice to see so many juniors enjoying the sport and banking some good sized fish!

Silvers continued to take maggot and castor at varying depths depending on the air pressure that saw some dramatic changes as heavy thunderstorms passed nearby. Fish that had happily fed near the surface disappeared towards the bottom as the storms passed!

Tench have also been taken although they have fed sporadically at times.
With warmer weather setting in fishing conditions should continue to improve over the coming weeks/months!
