Good catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.
The top Match Lake continued to produce good bags of Carp, Skimmers and Roach mainly from the deeper water pegs. Kingswear rod Richard Ward visited peg 17 again after his monster 3lbs 2oz Roach catch the day before and took plenty of Carp the best a fine 7lbs 7oz Common which fell to coarse 7mm pellet offered mid water.
Rod Metcalf continued to visit pegs he rarely fishes and took large bags of Carp and Skimmers all taken on the waggler with pellet.
The tutored morning session was full with children between 5 and 16 enjoying the sport, some for the first time. Everybody attending banked fish with some very nice Rudd and Roach to the 2lbs mark taken. Single maggot offered on a size 16 hook proved effective on the day which was bright and sunny with the fish coming up in the water.
Due to the success of the tutored mornings the Fishery will be holding further sessions during the Easter and Summer school holidays as well as some weekend and after school evening’s once the daylight start drawing out.

The lower Specimen Lake produced some fine catches although the fish became hesitant to feed as the temperature dropped.

Plymouth rod Rick Jenkins fished a cell boilie/green pop up snowman rig from peg 1 and christened his new rods and reels with three fish the best a 19lbs 8oz Common.
Jared Lewington and Harry Laity fished pegs 12 and 16 and banked a carp a piece! Falling to tutti frutti pop up’s Lewingtons fish tipped the scales at 19lbs 5oz and he also took the first reported Tench of the year of 5lbs 8oz!

Ian Ross and James Hubble continued to take fish from pegs 9 and 10. Running out winner was Ross with 9 Carp to 25lbs 4oz!

Truro rod Mike Jenkins made the long trip to fish a day session from peg 14 and was rewarded with two stunning Carp. Jenkins fished pineapple pop ups mid water to take a Common of 20lbs 3oz and a Mirror of 15lbs 8oz.
