Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 20/03

Colder nights and warmer days produced challenging fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

During the days fish were seen basking in the sunshine although they were hesitant to feed.

This said the flow of 20lbs plus fish continued!

Plymouth rod Simon Humphrey chose peg 12 for his 24hr session and was rewarded with three fish, two of which broke the twenty pound mark. A smaller Mirror of 16lbs 3oz was complimented with two Commons of 21lbs 3oz and 24lbs 4oz!

Different Pineapple pop up rigs tempted the fish, a chod rig, straight round boilie and a dumbbell proved effective as Humphrey’s took fish on all three rods!

Plymouth rod Simon Humphrey banked this superb 21lbs 3oz Common from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish was one of a three fish haul, the others a Common of 24lbs 4oz and a smaller Mirror of 16lbs 3oz!
Dave Osmond took several double figure fish from the shallows of peg 6 including a fine Commons and a 19lbs 9oz Linear!

Paignton rod Dave Osmond banked this lovely condition Common Carp from peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish was taken from the margins and fell to dead red maggot.

Roger Bulley fished a day session with Guy Bennett fishing from peg 9.
As the sun dropped, on what had been a very hot day Bulley’s alarms sounded and, after a prolonged battle a very fine 24lbs 0oz Mirror came to the net. This was a Town Parks personal best for Bulley who was clearly overjoyed!

A party of anglers from Canvey Island visited the Specimen Lake and banked plenty of Carp – Best of the bag an excellent condition Common of 19lbs 12oz which fell to a Cell boilie offered mid water.

Regular Ian Ross lost two fish after becoming snagged but was rewarded with a 20lbs 1oz Mirror which fell to a homemade pop up!

The top Match Lake gave good mixed bags with some large Roach and Rudd coming to the bank. Carp were cruising in numbers around the inflow and shallower water pegs 5 to 9.

Corn and maggot worked well as did meat. Rod Metcalf fished a small yellow boilie offered up in the water around three feet from peg 17 for a large bag of Carp.

Local angling journalist Steve Lockett returned to the Fishery showing different techniques of fishing with artificial baits. The results can be seen in a two page feature in Anglers Mail in early April!

With the weather warming up catches will only improve over the coming weeks!
