Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 27/3


Water temperatures approaching 16 degrees helped to get the fish on the feed at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake saw plenty of action as Catfish continued to be banked in numbers. Best Cat of the week went to Simon Jones with a fine 26lbs 4oz specimen which fell to luncheon meat offered in the margins of peg 12.

A rush of 20lb plus fish came to the bank with many anglers taking their first Catfish!

Regular Town Parks Fishery angler Roger Bulley banked this superb 24lbs 1oz Mirror Carp from peg 9. The fish fell to a pineapple boilie offered midwater.


Carp were also feeding well with most anglers connecting with fish.
Once again Dave Osmond was in the thick of the action taking numerous large Carp to the upper 20’s.

Town Parks Fishery’s Dave Osmond continued his run of 20lbs plus fish with this fine Mirror Carp. The fish, one of the Fishery’s 350 double figure Carp fell to red maggot offered in the margins of peg 6.


Regular Andy Webster fished peg 12 for an overnighter and took a single Cat and two Mirrors, the best 21lbs 2oz.

Paignton rod Bob Ineson visited peg 1 and took a Common of 16lbs 2oz and also lost a huge Cat which ran to the deeper water then parted Ineson’s 20lb briad! Luncheon meat proved effective.

Carp have been seen in numbers basking on the surface – several fell to floaters offered close by!

The top Match Lake also fished very well with some excellent bags taken.
The fish tended to go on and off the feed during the day with quieter periods around lunchtime giving way to frantic fishing into the early evening. Colin Robbins fished peg 10 and struggled until late afternoon when suddenly the fish came back on the feed and he eventually took 13 Carp to 9lbs 8oz!

Carp fed well along the dam wall with multiple catches reported by several anglers. Numerous Ghost Carp came to the bank the best a nice 9lbs 4oz example which fell for corn offered by Graham King from peg 5.

Large Silvers continued to come to the bank with Roach, Rudd and Skimmers falling to maggot and caster. 

The Fishery’s ever popular Junior Tuition mornings continue during the Easter school holidays with 9 am until 1 pm sessions planned for Thursday’s 14th and 21st April. Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 20/03


Colder nights and warmer days produced challenging fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

During the days fish were seen basking in the sunshine although they were hesitant to feed.

This said the flow of 20lbs plus fish continued!

Plymouth rod Simon Humphrey chose peg 12 for his 24hr session and was rewarded with three fish, two of which broke the twenty pound mark. A smaller Mirror of 16lbs 3oz was complimented with two Commons of 21lbs 3oz and 24lbs 4oz!

Different Pineapple pop up rigs tempted the fish, a chod rig, straight round boilie and a dumbbell proved effective as Humphrey’s took fish on all three rods!

Plymouth rod Simon Humphrey banked this superb 21lbs 3oz Common from peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish was one of a three fish haul, the others a Common of 24lbs 4oz and a smaller Mirror of 16lbs 3oz!
Dave Osmond took several double figure fish from the shallows of peg 6 including a fine Commons and a 19lbs 9oz Linear!

Paignton rod Dave Osmond banked this lovely condition Common Carp from peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish was taken from the margins and fell to dead red maggot.


Roger Bulley fished a day session with Guy Bennett fishing from peg 9.
As the sun dropped, on what had been a very hot day Bulley’s alarms sounded and, after a prolonged battle a very fine 24lbs 0oz Mirror came to the net. This was a Town Parks personal best for Bulley who was clearly overjoyed!  

A party of anglers from Canvey Island visited the Specimen Lake and banked plenty of Carp – Best of the bag an excellent condition Common of 19lbs 12oz which fell to a Cell boilie offered mid water.

Regular Ian Ross lost two fish after becoming snagged but was rewarded with a 20lbs 1oz Mirror which fell to a homemade pop up!

Regular Ian Ross banked this 20lbs 1oz Mirror Carp from peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a homemade Cell flavoured pop up.


The top Match Lake gave good mixed bags with some large Roach and Rudd coming to the bank. Carp were cruising in numbers around the inflow and shallower water pegs 5 to 9.

Corn and maggot worked well as did meat. Rod Metcalf fished a small yellow boilie offered up in the water around three feet from peg 17 for a large bag of Carp.

Local angling journalist Steve Lockett returned to the Fishery showing different techniques of fishing with artificial baits. The results can be seen in a two page feature in Anglers Mail in early April!

With the weather warming up catches will only improve over the coming weeks!

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 13/03


The Catfish are on the prowl at Town Parks Fishery with the first Cat of the season banked over the weekend!

Brixham rod Dominic Keel was fishing mid water from peg 9 when he hooked into a fine 18lbs 9oz specimen. Keel, fishing with his wife and daughter fished red maggot on a medusa rig to tempt the fish. This was Keel’s first Catfish – he was overjoyed!

Huddersfield rod Gary Perkins fished an overnighter on peg 12 facing into a strong South Westerly wind. Fishing a homemade garlic boilie, Perkins soon hooked into the fish! Best of a four fish haul was a superb Mirror which tipped the scales at 24lbs 6oz with another twenty plus, 21lbs 2oz Mirror and smaller Commons of 16lbs 4oz and 12lbs 3oz! 

Local angler Charlie Wing visited peg 16 for his first trip of the season. He was rewarded with a great condition Leather Carp of 16lbs 3oz within the first 10 minutes of casting out! This was Wings personal best at Town Parks!

Within ten minutes of casting out from peg 16 at Town Parks Fishery Local rod Charlie Wing banked this superb 16lbs 3oz Leather Carp.

Dan Handley fished peg 9 and banked a beautiful Mirror of 20lbs 8oz which fell to a bright pop up offered mid water!

Local rod Dan Handley banked this excellent condition 20lbs 8oz Mirror Carp at Town Parks Fishery. Fishing form peg 9 the fish fell to a bright pop up offered mid water!


Brett Palmer banked two nice Carp of 17lbs 8oz and 10lbs 4oz fishing strawberry boilies fished near the island from peg 1. 

A couple of nice Tench have also come to the bank – a sure sign the water is warming up!

On the top Match Lake good catches continued from most pegs. 

Keith Fisher took good bags of Carp and also banked a couple of Tench to the 4lbs mark during evening sessions from dam wall pegs. James Price fished maggot tight into the margin reeds from peg 14 and took six Carp, the best 7lbs 5oz!

Carp have been seen moving in numbers around the inflow between pegs 7 and 8. Several good sized fish have been banked from here!!

Silvers have been taking maggot or caster from most pegs – the fish have been up in the water on the sunnier days even with an Easterly wind scuff across the water!

Most of the Winter maintenance programme is now completed with swims being cleared and some completely rebuilt to provide complete safety for anglers.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 6/3


Good weather produced another cracking week of catches at Town Parks Fishery.

Large bags on the top Match Lake continued as the weather slowly warmed up.
Plymouth rods Barry Jenkins and Graham Leaman visited the Fishery for the first time and after finding the Specimen Lake was full decided to fish pegs 9 and 10 for 24hrs. They were rewarded with 16 Carp during the first night, all taken on boilies fished mid water.

Catches slowed slightly during daylight hours but the fish returned to the feed as soon as dusk fell and plenty of good sized Carp were banked! Chris Leaman also found the Specimen Lake full and fished the top lake. Choosing peg 16 Leaman was rewarded with 11 Carp, the best just under 8lbs!

Silvers continued to show in numbers from most pegs. Maggot and Caster proved very successful.
Steve Lockett fished peg 16 to shoot promotional tackle testing footage and was rewarded with several good Carp, see Steve’s catches on Youtube!

The lower Specimen Lake produced some good catches with plenty of new faces visiting the Fishery for the first time! 

Jared Lewington visited peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery and was rewarded with this 18lbs 8oz Common Carp which fell to a bright pop up offered mid water.
 

This said, regular Dave Osmond continued to bank fish taking three doubles in 2 hours! Red maggot his favoured bait. Osmond’s best fish a fine Mirror of 24lbs 8oz and a Common of 22lbs 4oz!



Clevedon rod Andy Southwood fished peg 14 choosing a Cell boilie as bait after speaking to other anglers. Burrows was rewarded with two Common’s the best a fine PB of 23lbs 2oz!

Local rod Harry Laity banked this great condition Common Carp form peg 15 at Town Parks Fishery.

The on site shop is fully stocked with freezer and live baits as well as rods, clothing, tackle all essential fishing needs and is open from 7.30 daily.
