Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 10/10/10

Anglers at Town Parks Fishery found testing fishing conditions this week.
The top Match Lake continued to produce good catches although the fish were hesitant to feed at times.

Anglers along the dam wall found the Carp feeding sporadically with quiet periods followed by multiple fish in a short spell.
Silvers appeared in numbers from most pegs particularly the sheltered northern side of the lake.

Several nice Tench were reported from the shallower water pegs the best a 6lbs 4oz beauty!

On the lower Specimen Lake fishing was slower than of late with the fish moving freely around the lake but hesitant to feed.

Plymouth rod David Armstrong fished an n-gage boilie from peg 14 and connected with his first Catfish. After a lengthy battle Armstrong banked the fish which tipped the scales at 16lbs 5oz!

This fish was complimented by a nice Common Carp of 14lbs 1oz – both fish were taken tight to the outflow riser.

Ilfracombe angler Brian Dennis travelled down to fish peg 1 and was rewarded with a lovely condition Mirror Carp of 19lbs 3oz. Dennis fished a Japanese squid boilie tight to the main island.

Local rod Mick Jones float fished a single red maggot for silvers from peg 8 but got more than he bargained for when his bait was seized by a good eel of 3lb 7oz!

With settled, colder weather forecast the fish should start their Winter feed up shortly.
