TOWN PARKS FISHERY CATCH REPORT w/e 28/11

Bitterly cold weather conditions greeted anglers fishing Town Parks Fishery in Paignton.

The top Match Lake fished sporadically with some anglers experiencing good catches.

Richard McMahon fished the pole on the dam wall from peg 17. Having fished a blank couple of hours he switched to a feeder rod and cast live red maggot in a feeder towards the central bar between the islands.

In the following hectic hour McMahon said the fishing was “like mid summer” with 9 Roach and 10 Carp over 5lbs coming to the bank, the best a stunning double figure ghostie!
After an hour the fish went back off the feed and none were banked during the remainder of the afternoon!

Regular Bob Hewitt banked a nice 6lb Carp from the margins of peg 1.

Anglers reported numerous Silvers taken form various pegs, this in spite of the drop in temperature!”
A group from Robert Owen Foundation  made their weekly visit and all caught numerous Silvers complimented with a single Carp!

The lower Specimen Lake also provided sport for the hardy few. Bristol rods Paul Stevens and Graham Furrell fished pegs 9 and 10 and banked two Carp a piece. Best fish a nice Common of 19lbs 4oz which fell to a squid pop up offered mid water.

Several anglers fished light and banked some fine Rudd and Roach to 2lb 4oz.

The Coarse Charity match on the top Match Lake takes place this Sunday and there are a couple of pegs left. The draw is at 07.45 with fishing 08.15 until 16.30.

Cash and tackle prizes are up for grabs so contact the Fishery on 01803 523133 to book a peg.
The Specimen Lake Carp Match takes place next Sunday (12th Dec) with the same draw and fishing times.
