Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 26/12

Another week of freezing temperatures kept both lakes frozen until mid week when a fast thaw set in. This weekend will see both lakes fully open for the first weekend in 4 weeks.

Plenty of Roach came to the bank during the first day or so of clear water on both lakes. Carp will almost certainly come on the feed quickly after such a prolonged period of frozen water.

The Fishery would like to wish all their customers both old and new a very Happy New Year.

2011 looks set to be an exciting year with plenty of new offers available – watch this space!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 12/12

Continued freezing conditions resulted in both lakes remaining frozen at Town Parks Fishery.
Unfortunately the charity Specimen match had to be postponed until the New Year to a date to be confirmed.

Towards the end of the week the ice thawed enough for some hardy anglers to take advantage of clear water. Some very large Roach, approaching the 2lbs 8oz mark were banked in numbers, obviously hungry after nearly three weeks under the ice!!

The Carp, however, remained elusive probably sitting on the lake bed waiting for warmer conditions.
At the time of writing the thaw continues but conditions will depend on the coming uncertain weather conditions!

The on site shop remains open every day for anyone looking for last minute Christmas presents/vouchers etc.

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 5/12

Bitterly cold weather and heavy frosts resulted in the postponement of the Devon Air Ambulance charity match at Town Parks This week.

Both lakes froze although Matt Pickup and Richard McMahon opened up the ice on two of the swims on the Match Lake to fish. Pickup chose peg 17 and was amazed to bank over 25lb of Silvers and a 4lbs Carp from deep fished maggot! McMahon, on the other hand fished the shallows in front of peg 9 and only took 10 small Roach all day!!

The lower Specimen Lake had free flowing water around the inflow near pegs six and seven and regular Dave Osmond took advantage of the conditions to take 3 Carp to 15lbs 5oz from the edge of the ice. Osmond fished red maggot which accounted for two of the fish and a single slow sinking 10mm coarse pellet for the other larger fish!

Regulars Mick and Malcolm, from Grand Central Bar also fished the ice free water chasing the Silvers and banked some excellent Roach to the 2lbs 8oz mark!

Hopefully the planned Specimen Lake Charity Match this Sunday will be fishable and there are a couple of pegs remaining for the 07.45 draw.

Cash and Tackle prizes are up for grabs for an all in entrance fee of £20.

TOWN PARKS FISHERY CATCH REPORT w/e 28/11

Bitterly cold weather conditions greeted anglers fishing Town Parks Fishery in Paignton.

The top Match Lake fished sporadically with some anglers experiencing good catches.

Richard McMahon fished the pole on the dam wall from peg 17. Having fished a blank couple of hours he switched to a feeder rod and cast live red maggot in a feeder towards the central bar between the islands.

In the following hectic hour McMahon said the fishing was “like mid summer” with 9 Roach and 10 Carp over 5lbs coming to the bank, the best a stunning double figure ghostie!
After an hour the fish went back off the feed and none were banked during the remainder of the afternoon!

Regular Bob Hewitt banked a nice 6lb Carp from the margins of peg 1.

Anglers reported numerous Silvers taken form various pegs, this in spite of the drop in temperature!”
A group from Robert Owen Foundation  made their weekly visit and all caught numerous Silvers complimented with a single Carp!

The lower Specimen Lake also provided sport for the hardy few. Bristol rods Paul Stevens and Graham Furrell fished pegs 9 and 10 and banked two Carp a piece. Best fish a nice Common of 19lbs 4oz which fell to a squid pop up offered mid water.

Several anglers fished light and banked some fine Rudd and Roach to 2lb 4oz.

The Coarse Charity match on the top Match Lake takes place this Sunday and there are a couple of pegs left. The draw is at 07.45 with fishing 08.15 until 16.30.

Cash and tackle prizes are up for grabs so contact the Fishery on 01803 523133 to book a peg.
The Specimen Lake Carp Match takes place next Sunday (12th Dec) with the same draw and fishing times.

TOWN PARKS FISHING CATCH REPORT w/e 21/11

The top Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery continued to produce good sport for the hardy anglers braving the weather conditions.

Medium bags of Silvers and Carp were reported from various pegs around the lake.
Colin took several Carp including a beautiful golden koi which was around the 5lb mark.

Carp have shown in numbers along the dam wall and regular Rob Metcalf banked several during a day session.

On the lower Specimen Lake conditions were testing. Fish were moving around the margins but were hesitant to feed.

Regular Dave Osmond visited for a cup of tea but decided to fish as the fish were moving near peg three. Within 30 minutes Osmond had banked a fine 18lbs 8oz Common which fell to a slow sinking pellet on the drop!

Two Catfish fell to visiting angler Luke Slater the best a nice 17lbs 6oz. Both fish fell to black squid pop up’s offered mid water in front of peg 14.

There are limited pegs left for the Fishery’s Charity matches in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.
The Coarse match, on the top lake, is being held on Sunday 5th December and the Specimen match is the following week on Sunday 12th.

Both matches run from a 7.45 am draw with fishing from 8.15 until 4.30.
