Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 24/3

Cold and very wet weather produced testing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The top Match Lake saw some Carp coming to the bank for hardy anglers prepared to put some hours in!

Dean Bradford took several Carp from peg 10 before moving to the more sheltered peg 14 and taking several more. Pellet offered on the feeder proved successful.

Junior Jack Mogg also visited peg 14 and was rewarded with two good Carp to 6lbs from the reeds in the margins. Both fish fell to chocolate boilies. On a following visit Mogg also banked a superb Ghost Common of 10lbs 1oz! This fish fell to a banana boilie offered in the reeds adjacent to peg 1.

Local junior Jack Mogg is pictured with a nice Common Carp which was one of two fish taken from peg 14 at Town parks Fishery.

A group of students from Paignton Community College visited for a tutored session and enjoyed good sport taking some fine Roach on maggot to the 2lbs mark!

On the lower Specimen Lake sport was a little slower although a few good fish did come to the net!

Local rod Trevor Trebell finished a good session banking a fine Common Carp which tipped the scales at 18lbs 14oz. The fish fell to a banana boilie offered mid water in front of peg 16.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 17/3

Unsettled weather created difficult fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

On the Specimen Lake Cornwall rod Guy Radford fished through freezing conditions from peg 10. Redford banked his first Carp around 3.30 am but after resting the net on the unhooking mat the net froze and had to be quickly put back into the water to allow the fish to swim free!

Three more Carp, all good doubles, were netted by dawn but Radford unhooked them in the water to avoid stressing them out too much. Cell boilies fished mid water tempted the fish although, due to the freezing conditions the baits had been in the water for some 15 hours before being taken!

Snowy weather over the Match Lake at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Best fish around the 17lbs mark!

Local rod Gordon Batt fished the shallows of peg 6 and was rewarded with a fine condition Common of 16lbs 3oz! Batt also lost a larger fish at the net! The fish fell to maggot offered in the margins.

On the top Match Lake the fish continued to feed albeit sporadically.

Carp were banked from various depths with fish taking pellet and corn at around the 4 foot depth on sunny days!

Good Silvers were also taken at varying depths taking maggot or castor freely. Some nice sized Bream were taken from just short of the main island for anglers fishing soft pellet on the bottom.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 10/3

Changing weather conditions produced testing fishing conditions at Town Parks Fishery this week.

On the top Match Lake catches were reported from the deeper water pegs although the fish went on and off the feed sporadically. Carp came to the net falling to corn, coarse pellet and meat. Several anglers banked Carp from the tall reeds in the margins.

As usual, Rod Metcalf made several short visits taking up to 10 Carp with pellet from midwater in front of peg 16.

Some good bags of Silvers have also been reported, all in excellent Winter condition!

On the Specimen Lake action was a little slower than of late with anglers frustrated by fish moving around the lake but refusing to take the bait!

Plymouth rod Steve Jarvis did manage to bank two Carp, a Mirror of 19lbs 3oz and a Common 18lbs 9oz from peg 12.  Tutti Frutti boilies offered in the margins tempted the fish!

Brixham rod Steve Davis also took two Carp to 17lbs 4oz from peg 15 with Cell boilies.

Also on the Specimen Lake, Rod Metcalf fished a pole from peg 7 and bagged a cracking net of Roach and Rudd with nothing under 1lb and some good 2lbs plus specimens. The fish fell to a single red maggot.

Town Parks Fishery regular Rod Metcalf chose peg 7 on the Specimen Lake for a change and was rewarded with a fine bag of Silvers all over 1lbs with some very large specimens included. The fish fell to a single red maggot offered at around 8 mts.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 3/3

Top catch of the week at Town Parks Fishery was undoubtedly the banking of 19 Carp during a single session on the Match Lake. Once again Rod Metcalf showed everyone how to do it when he netted well over 100lbs of fish from peg 17.  Fishing small pellet on the waggler around the 5 foot mark Metcalf found the fish around the point of the main island.

Brain Toy also had great sport taking 8 Carp on Halibut Pellet from the island in front of peg 15.

Ten Carp were banked by an unnamed angler fishing sausage tight the margins of peg 12!

Silvers continued to show with some good sized specimens coming to the net.

On the Specimen Lake some excellent fish came to the bank.

Penzance rod Paul Moyle chose peg 10 for his first session at Town Parks Fishery.
Moyle fished alongside Stefan Mcnight with both anglers tempting the fish with tangerine boilies made by South West Bailiff Matt Tregenza! During their session six double figure Carp came to the net, the best 19lbs 12oz!
