Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 24th July 2011


Excellent catches were reported form both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The top Match Lake saw anglers enjoying great sport with both Carp and Silvers showing in numbers.

Dam wall pegs saw the main action with Robbie Metcalf once again in the thick of the action. Enjoying early morning sessions Metcalf banked over 20 Carp per visit with most fish falling to pellet offered on the bottom.

Local rod Connor Nettleton took 23 Carp to double figures from peg 17 with sweetcorn whilst his mum banked her personal best Carp of 13lbs 8oz!

Silvers continue to show from most pegs, normally up in the water and falling to maggot or castor.

On the lower Specimen Lake, Carp came to the bank, mainly from the deeper water pegs.

Local rod Tom Schwenn banked this fine Mirror weighing 24lbs 3oz from peg six at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a cell boilie offered mid water.
 
Gordon Batt took a fine condition Common from peg 2 of 20lbs 2oz, while Kevin Locke banked four Carp to 16lbs 1 oz loosing another two.

Catfish also showed with several anglers reporting their first Cats. Kevin Brant banked two and also took four Carp to 19lbs 8oz. Cell boilies and Japanese Squid hook baits proving effective.

Little Lauren Baker fished an overnight session with dad Chris and banked her very first double figure Carp. Brother Ashley also took his first Carp form the same peg.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 10/07


 Excellent catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake saw plenty of action with some fine mid twenty carp banked.
Tom Schwenn fished a twenty four hour session to take six carp, the best a fine 25lbs 2oz Mirror with another Mirror of 23lbs 1oz and four more double figure fish. All the fish fell to Cell boilies offered in the margins around peg six.

Dan Kinnair moved to peg 10 after banking one fish and losing another at peg 1 and was rewarded with a superb Mirror of 23lbs 8oz which fell to a 22mm halibut pellet.

Junior Ashley “baitbox” Baker fished a 24hr session with dad Shaun and banked his first two carp, a beautiful linear of 14lbs 2oz which fell to a Mainline Grange boilie and a Common of 11lbs 2oz which took halibut pellet. Meanwhile cousin Lauren also took her first Carp, a fine 16lbs 2oz Common and another of 11lbs 2oz.

Catfish have shown in numbers with several anglers either banking their first Cats or being snapped off by the larger specimens.

On the top Match Lake, anglers enjoyed great sport with both Carp and Silvers taking the bait.

Several anglers reported Carp “jumping” on the hook with large bags, some of 40 plus fish, coming to the bank.

Lee Holding fished peg 15 and took a 150lbs bag of Carp from tight to the island. Pellet proved effective.

Robbie Metcalf fished several sessions form various pegs and reported large bags of Carp falling to the pellet waggler or method.

Liverpool rod Robbie Adams fished peg 10 and lost a Carp estimated to be around 20lbs at the net!

Pupils from various local schools enjoyed tutored sessions on most days and everyone banked plenty of Silvers including some fine Roach and Rudd to the 2lbs mark!
