Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 13/02

Very changeable weather saw fishing conditions vary from productive to very testing day by day at Town Parks Fishery.

Silvers in the top Match Lake continued to take maggot and caster freely producing medium bags whilst the Carp went on and off the feed during the colder days.
Once again the dam wall pegs tended to produce the better carp bags particularly the margin reeds around peg 20.

Rod Metcalf did take 10 Carp from peg 13 during an early morning session but as soon as the wind picked up the fish stopped feeding!

Medium mixed bags were reported from most pegs with some very nice Skimmers still showing!

On the Specimen Lake Ian Ross continued his remarkable run of catches with a superb personal best Mirror of 24lbs 5oz! Fishing the main island from peg 10 Ross tempted the fish, one of six taken during his session, with a pineapple pop up.

Jamie Gambles banked a beautifully marked 14lbs 1oz fully scaled Carp from peg 1 which fell to a pineapple pop up.

Stockport rod Carl Jenkins visited peg 14 for a 24hr stint and was rewarded with a fine brace of fish, a Mirror of 19lbs 15oz and a Common of 20lbs 3oz. Both fish fell to squid and octopus pop up’s fished mid water during the early hours of the morning. Jenkins also lost a “monster” Carp at the net after a battle lasting some 30 minutes!

Eleven 20lbs plus fish have been banked in the last three weeks!
Junior Harrison Arnold fished with dad Hele Park Golf Pro Duncan for a silvers session and banked some very large Roach on maggot from peg 2.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 6/2

Excellent catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

With slightly warmer temperatures the fish came on the feed in numbers.

On the top Match Lake Brenda Morrissey banked 10 Carp to the 8lbs mark from peg 2. All the fish fell to light carp pellet offered towards the margin reeds of peg 1. Husband Jim and fishing partner Pete looked on as Brenda banked fish after fish while they both took two Roach each!!

Doncaster rod Pete Rowe visited peg 14 in very blustery conditions and took a good mixed bag approaching 60lbs. Roach and Skimmers made up most of the catch as well as a few good Perch.

Yorkie Hart fished the dam wall in driving rain and strong wind but sticking it out paid off with a bag of large Roach and Skimmers topped off with a single Carp. All the fish were taken within three feet of the margin.

Plenty of Carp have been banked – they seem to feeding heavily mainly in the deeper water along the dam wall.

On the lower Specimen Lake the catches improved dramatically!

Dave Osmond returned to form taking three double figure Commons in quick succession the best a fine 24lbs 2oz! All the fish fell to red maggot offered in the margin.

Once again Jamie Hubble was in the thick of the action banking 5 Carp including fine Common’s of 22lbs 2oz and 18lbs 3oz on pineapple boilies offered mid water from peg 7.

Dave Thomas visited peg 1 and took two Mirrors as did Jeff Garnham the previous day!

Plymouth rod Chris Furnival fished peg 12 on his second visit to Town Parks and banked his personal best Carp with 30 minutes of arrival! The fish of 15lbs 14oz fell to a pineapple pop up offered mid water.

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 30/1

Wintry conditions returned to Town Parks Fishery this week!

By the end of the week the lakes had started to freeze with the water temperature around 9 degrees. Luckily, the Charity match in aid of Devon Air Ambulance took place before the real freeze set in and anglers fished in bright, cold conditions.
The dam wall produced the better catches with baits offered on the bottom proving effective.

Running out winner on the day was Jim Morrison who banked 12 Carp for 15kilos 500. Morrison fished corn over pellet from peg 19 to take the win. Second was Richard McMahon with a mixed bag containing some fine Roach and third was Damien Brading banking a mixed bag and the biggest Carp of the day at just under 8lbs!

All the anglers taking part banked fish and over £250 has now been raised for the Charity!

Regular Keith Fisher fished some late evening sessions and was rewarded with multiple bags of Carp. Most of Fishers fish came from the reeds between pegs 1 and 20.

The lower Specimen Lake has fished well with many anglers taking fish.
Brian Reed fished peg 14 and banked a fine Common of 21lbs 4oz. The fish fell to a popped up squid boilie offered mid water.

John Jones banked a Mirror of 14lbs 8oz from peg 16 within 20 minutes of arriving! A purple pop up proved tempting.

Gordon Batt took a nice fully scaled Mirror of 13lbs 8oz from peg one on a bright pink bearded clam pop up.

Once again Ian Ross banked fish. After spending a quiet night on peg 14 Ross awoke to find his lines iced in. After considerable ice breaking he moved to peg 10 which was clear of ice and bathed in sunshine. During the afternoon, with the water temperature rising Ross took a very nice fish, almost a Leather of 15lbs 5oz!

Some large mid twenty’s have been seen cruising around but have been hesitant to feed in the cold conditions.

A few membership places are available before the allocation closes – contact the Fishery for details on 01803 523133.
