Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 25/5

Both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery produced some great sport for anglers enjoying the better weather days!

The Specimen Lake saw Catfish and Carp taking baits from both deep and shallow water pegs.

Catfish of 25lbs 4oz and 21lbs 9oz fell to luncheon meat baits offered from peg 15 by visitor Brain Griffiths. Grittiths had not hooked a Catfish before so he was overjoyed!

Matt Feakes enjoyed hectic sport from peg 1 banking 7 fish, 6 Carp and a single Cat.
All the fish were high teens or early twentys and fell to Cell boilies.

Gordon Batt took 6 fish, all Carp, from peg 6 with baits offered under the overhanging trees.

Paul Baker fished peg 12 and netted a mirror of 17lbs 8oz on his first visit.

Jay Harper took a brace of Carp to 17lbs 4oz form peg 10 whilst Peter Hoare took a couple of Carp to 17lbs from peg 9.

At the time of writing the Carp have not yet spawned on this lake so we are expecting some BIG fish to come to the net over the next few days!

The Match Lake also fished well with Carp and Silvers responding to baits offered at various depths.

Rod Metcalfe connected with plenty of fish from the dam wall pegs during several short visits.


Silvers fell to maggot and castor offered shallow with bags to the 60lbs mark reported!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 18/5

Towards the end of the week the fish started to spawn in the lakes at Town Parks Fishery.
Before that began, some lovely fish came to the net.

The Specimen Lake saw anglers enjoying sport from most pegs with the fish taking various baits offered.

Peg 12 saw Town Parks regular Mark Hill bank his first Catfish and a good Common Carp both of which fell to Cell boilies.

Owen Hartmink made his first visit to peg 2 and got snapped off by several Catfish before banking a fine Mirror Carp of 17lbs 9oz. The fish fell to a Banoffee boilie tipped with artificial corn and fished tight to the main island.

Peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery saw Owen Hartmink fish his first session! After loosing a brace of Catfish Hartmink hooked into this fine Mirror Carp which fell for his Banoffee Boilie!

Jack Goodland had a good session from peg 15 netting 6 fish, all over 15lbs including a Common of 22lbs 5oz and a Catfish of 21lbs 14oz.

Torquay rod Conor Nettleton banked a fine Mirror of 22lbs 8oz within 10 minutes of setting up on peg 6. Nettleton cast towards the small island directly in front of the swim and took the fish with a floater!

Town Parks Fishery regular Conor Nettleton moved into peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery and had this beautiful Mirror Carp on the bank within 10 minutes. The fish fell to a floater offered by the small island in front of the swim.

Gordon “Gorby” Batt visited peg 6 previously in the day and took a brace of Mirrors to 19lbs 11oz. Small plum wafters proved irresistible!

The top Match Lake provided fast and furious action at times with 100lbs plus bags reported by several anglers.

Roddy Metcalfe fished the dam wall and took huge net of Carp just as the sun was dropping behind the hills. Dead Red Maggot fished on the waggler around the 4 foot mark proved effective.

Regular Jon Haddon chose peg 12 and banked several Carp, all of which were in superb condition.

This beautiful little Mirror Carp was one of several fine condition Carp taken by local rod Jon Haddon on peg 12!

 Tim Fallon fished overnight from peg 10 and netted 10 Carp to double figures most of which were taken from around the island.

Large bags of Silvers have been reported form most pegs with both experienced and novice anglers enjoying the sport!

Lee Hunt decided to fish for Silvers rather than Carp in temperatures of 24 degrees and made the right choice as he got into the Skimmers taken around 25lbs of fish on maggot!

Travis Haywood fished from peg 1 and banked five Carp on Tutti Frutti and Hybrid boilies.
The fish took baits offered in the reeded margins and went to 9lbs 3oz!

The Fishery is open all over the Bank Holiday weekend and the shop has a full stock of fresh and frozen baits!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 11/5

Changeable weather conditions saw the fish going on and off the feed although most anglers did connect with decent fish at Town Parks Fishery.

The Specimen Lake once again provided great sport with plenty of large fish showing.

Plymouth rod Phil Lamble fished overnight from peg 4 and took a brace of Catfish at 22lbs 0oz and 25lbs 8oz, his personal best. After trying very large “bloodied eel” pellets with no bites Lamble switched to 8 mm Robin Red pellets and tempted the fish!! Just shows that size of bait does make a difference!

Peg 16 at Town Parks Fishery’s Specimen Lake fished well for local rod Wayne Hockley who banked several fish including this Catfish. 

Paignton rod Bob Ineson chose peg 10 for a quick overnighter and netted three fish, 2 Cats and a Carp. Best of the bunch was a fine Common of 25lbs 2oz with the two Cats in the 20lbs region. Banoffee boilies proved effective.

Twilight specialist Jim McCourt fished prawns for Catfish from peg 3 but was amazed to bank a superb Common Carp of 26lbs 1oz which seized the bait!

Town Parks Fishery regular Jim McCourt was fishing for Catfish form peg 3 when he hooked into, and banked this superb personal best Common Carp of 26lbs 1oz!

Jay Harper had a frantic session after arriving on peg 4 taking 6 fish overnight! Catfish of 28lbs 6oz, 22lbs dead, 21lbs 8oz and 17lbs a Common of 18lbs 3oz and finally a Fully Scaled Carp of 17lbs 6oz all took Harpers Cell boilies on the same rod!!

Bruce Woodward banked a couple of Cats to 22lbs 3oz from peg 11 and also a nice Tench, one of several reported this week of 6lbs 8oz!

:This lovely Mirror Carp fell to Cell boilie offered form peg 6 by Town Parks Fishery regular Gordon Batt.

On the top Match Lake sport was also good.

Richard Wood netted over 100lbs carp from peg 16 with all the fish falling to luncheon meat.

Conor Nettleton made several short visits to various pegs taking up to 13 Carp per visit with pellet.


Silvers have continued to fall to maggot and castor.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 4/5

Some great catches were reported form both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake came on form with anglers taking plenty of Catfish and Carp.

Peg 6 was on particularly good form with several anglers reporting multiple catches.

Town Parks regular John Webster continued his recent run of fish with a beautiful personal best Common of 25lbs 1oz which took a homemade coconut boilie. Webster also banked two more Commons of 19lbs 3oz and 13lbs 6oz and a good Tench of 8lbs 6oz.

Earlier Colin Parnell visited the same peg and netted his personal best Common of 20lbs 1oz and his first Catfish of 15lbs dead! Both fish fell to luncheon meat tipped with sweetcorn.

Colin Parnell fished from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this Catfish, his first of 15lbs. Parnell also banked his personal best Ghost Carp of 25lbs during the same session!
Town Parks Fishery regular Colin Parnell had a great session from peg 6 when he banked his personal best Common 25lbs 1oz which took luncheon meat fished near the “blue rope”! 

Gordon Batt also fished 6 and banked a fine Catfish of 25lbs 2oz and 3 Carp, the best 16lbs 6oz!

Town Parks Fishery regular Gordon “Gorby” Batt fished from peg 6 and banked four fish including this fine Catfish of 25lbs 1oz.

Brett Palmer fished peg 1 and took two good Carp of 24lbs 2oz and 22lbs 12oz both of which fell to artificial sweetcorn.

Dan Hall chose peg 11 and was rewarded with 4 fish including a fine Cat of 24lbs 0oz.

Peg 2 at Town Parks Fishery saw John Osman take this fine Ghost Carp on floating biscuit. The fish put up a tremendous battle before coming to the net and was one of several taken during the session.


Matty Feakes banked three Carp to 21lbs 2oz from peg 4 while Bailey Westacott took a nice Tench of 6lbs 6oz from peg 14.

Matt Feakes had a great session from peg 4 taking four Carp including this Mirror of 21lbs dead. The fish all fell to Cell boilies offered mid water.

The top Match Lake also fished very well.

Ken Amos reported over 100lbs of Carp from peg 14 all of which fell to chopped luncheon meat.

Conor Nettleton fished the inflow from peg 7 and took 11 Carp including some nice doubles!

Regular Rod Metcalfe made several short visits to pegs 10 and three and netted over 100lbs of Carp per visit!

Plenty of Silvers are also showing still responding to maggot and castor.


The onsite shop is now fully stocked for the season with large supplies of frozen and shelf life Mainline and Sensus Baits as well as live bait and terminal tackle etc. The shop is open daily from 8.00 am til 6.00 pm.
