Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 26/1

Continued unsettled weather helped to keep the fish on the feed at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake produced good sport even in the most atrocious weather.

Town Parks Fishery regular Steve Wright had a couple of good sessions from peg 3 on the Specimen Lake. Banking fish on both visits Wright broke his personal best twice.  Included in his haul was this beautiful Linear Carp which fell to a Cell boilie.

Paul Knapman and Wesley Hayes found that out as they banked fish in pouring rain and gale force winds! Hayes took two high doubles from peg 8 whilst Knapman was packing away his second rod on peg 7 when his last reel screamed off. As the rain got heavier a good Common of 15lbs 1oz hit the net! White chocolate boilies and coconut pop up’s tempted the fish.

This fine Leather Carp fell to Dave Tozer at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a boilie offered tight in the margins of peg 12 on the Specimen Lake.

During his sunny, settled day session Slim netted 96lbs 4oz of fish and this did not include a couple of fish which escaped from his keepnet as he tried to lift it from the water! Once again a small feeder, short hooklink and double red maggot to a size 16 hook did the trick!

Plenty of Carp also hit the bank.

Local rod John Connabeer fished a couple of 24hr sessions from peg 12 placing his bait, a Passion fruit boilie, tight in the margins. Connabeer netted three Carp during his first session including a fine Leather of 22lbs 1oz and a Common of 21lbs 5oz! His second session saw another 20+ Carp.

Once again, the changeable weather during the week saw anglers choosing sessions to coincide with better days at Town Parks Fishery.

The Specimen Lake continued to produce good fish for the time of year.

Peg 15 saw Scott Bryant net four decent Carp. Bryants haul included a 16lbs 3oz Mirror, 16lbs 1oz Leather and a nice Common which fell to 12mm Fusion boilies offered mid water.

With colder weather forecast the fish should get their heads down to feed up ready for cold snap!

Bream have continued to show on the Specimen Lake with some match anglers enjoying the sport and taking medium to large bags of fish. Tactics vary but in the main use a small feeder with a short hooklink and a size 16 hook with one or two dead red maggots for bait.
The fish have tended to shoal up around the main island so peg 1, 2, 9 and 10 have seen the best catches!

Up on the top Match Lake, anglers have been taking good bags of Roach and Rudd. Some have reported plenty of Perch also on the feed at times.

Rod Metcalfe fished for Silvers from peg 3 and took a good mixed bag of fish including some good sized Perch.

Jon Haddon took some decent fish during a couple of day sessions from sheltered pegs.
