Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 29/9

With the continued settled weather conditions the fish stayed on the feed at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake produced great sport with Catfish and Carp freely taking the anglers baits.

Steve Wright fished a session from peg 1 choosing Halibut flavour luncheon meat which he offered mid water. Within minutes of casting out Wright’s reel screamed off and he struck into a good sized fish! Eventually the Catfish was brought to the net and banked. The fish was Wright’s personal best hitting the scales at 30lbs 3oz!

Plymouth fireman Steve Wright banked his personal best Catfish at Town Parks Fishery. The 30lbs 3oz fish fell to a lump of luncheon meat offered mid water from peg 1.

Local rod Nathan Giddy banked his first, and second Catfish taking fish of 26lbs 2oz and 22lbs 4oz from peg 11!

Fishing partner Jay Harper had great sport on peg 9 taking 8 Carp to 19lbs 8oz whilst on peg 10 Joe Dawson had a 19lbs 4oz Cat and a couple of high teens Carp.

Many Carp, too many to list individually, came to the bank with most pegs producing fish.

The current water temperature is 16.8 degrees and shows no sign of dropping due to the warm weather – The Catfish will continue to feed up ready for the Winter lay up!!

On the top Match Lake sport was also good.

Bags of up to the 100lbs mark of Carp were reported by several anglers as the fish took coarse pellet and dead maggot offered up in the water.

Some large Carp have been taken and the Fishery would like to remind anglers that any fish over the 10lbs mark should be reported to the Bailiff so the fish can be moved to the Specimen Lake to grow on.

Silvers fed throughout taking small cubes of meat, maggot and castor. A couple of Tench were also reported, one taking a boilie offered for Carp!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 22/9

Fish continued to take anglers baits at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Plymouth rod Gary Mills topped off his recent personal best Catfish of 30lbs from peg 7 by banking his personal best Carp a cracking specimen Common of 28lbs 8oz which fell to luncheon meat offered near the box on the bar!

Plymouth rod Gary Mills followed his recent personal best Catfish of 30lbs by banking this superb specimen Common Carp of 28lbs 8oz. 6ft 7ins Mills dwarfed the fish in the picture!

Tony Smith fished luncheon meat from peg 12 and took 6 fish including Carp to 22lbs and Catfish to 24lbs 4oz.

Ross Morris also had some action with the Cats on peg 11 taking three to 24lb.

           

Newton Abbot rod Matt Feakes  fished Cell boilies from peg 12 during a 24hr mid week session. Feakes had great sport netting 9 Carp, all doubles, including Commons of 24lbs dead and 23lbs 9oz!

This Specimen Common Carp of 24lbs dead fell to a Cell boilie offered form peg 12 at Town Parks Fishery by Matt Feakes.

Sean Collings chose peg 5 for a day session fishing Cell oilies towards the central bar.

Collings was rewarded with a beautiful, fine condition Ghost Common of 18lbs 0oz.

On the Match Lake sport was a little more sporadic although plenty of fish came to the bank.

Roddy Metcalf fished several short sessions taking up to 12 Carp on pellet.

Bream continued to show in numbers as did Roach and Perch. Maggot, worm and Castor proved effective.

Groups of students from Torbay School attended several short sessions and banked plentiful Roach and Rudd. One student banked his first Carp, a Common of 5lbs 8oz!

TOWN PARKS FISHERY CATCH REPORT W/E 15/9

Once again it was happy anglers all round as the fish continued to feed at Town Parks Fishery this week. Both lakes fished well as the Autumn weather rolled in and temperatures dropped!

On the Specimen Lake sport was very good with most anglers banking fish.

Conor Nettleton fished from peg 16 and netted several good double Carp topped off with an excellent condition Mirror Carp of 23lbs 12oz.

 Brothers Roy and Alan Ogden travelled down from Weymouth to enjoy great sport from pegs 15 and 16. Alan banked a couple of good Carp, both personal bests of 19lbs 8oz and 22lbs 8oz and Roy fished Cell boilies to net 5 Carp, all doubles, to 18lbs 1oz!

Trevor Trebell fished a short session from peg 2 and banked a beautiful Linear Carp of 21lbs 2oz.

Bournmouth rod Andy Ball made the long trip down to fish peg 9 following his recent session here which saw him take a 35lbs personal best Catfish. This time the Cats were a little elusive, although Ball lost a large one, but he had a successful trip taking eight Carp to 23lbs 12oz! Amazingly the largest Carp was the same fish that Conor Nettleton had banked just 24hrs earlier!

Manchester rod Paul Sutton visited peg 14 for a 24hr session and fished Cell boilies and halibut pellet towards the central bar. Sutton ended up with seven fish on the bank, two Catfish to 24lbs 13oz and five Carp to 23lbs 3oz!

Town Parks regular John Connabeer had a great session from peg 10 banking 6 Carp including a superb Linear of 21lbs 5oz.

With the temperature starting to drop off the Catfish should be getting their heads down and feeding up ready for the Winter hibernation. Some large Cats should be coming to the bank over the next few weeks!

The Match Lake also produced good sport, if a little sporadic.

One regular reported taking 19 Carp to double figures from peg 12 on one day whilst he only tempted two Carp to the hook the next day using the same tactics.

Bream and Roach fell to maggot and castor offered up in the water whilst some good sized Perch were reported taking corn from pegs near the car park. 

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 8/9

Once again excellent sport was reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The Specimen Lake is in great form with some large fish coming to the bank.

Unluckiest angler of the week was undoubtedly Torquay rod Nigel Paull. Paull’s Cell bait was seized by a good fish in front of peg 9 during the early hours. After an extended battle a beautiful Mirror Carp was duly netted and banked. Paull happily weighed the fish knowing it was to be his personal best – the scales hit 26lbs 4oz! After setting his camera to record the moment he left his headlight on and the pictures were just a blur!!

Other anglers congratulated him on his success.

During the following morning Paull weighed a fellow anglers fish and after rechecking his scales it was discovered they were 4lbs underweight!!

His fish was in the thirty’s and £100 prize for the next 30lb plus fish banked would have been his!!

Plenty of other fish came to the bank.

Cornwall rod Paul Goodwill had a great session from peg 14 taking three Cat’s and two Carp to 21lbs 4oz with Cell boilies.

Plymouth rod Shaun Lamble fished from peg 8 at Town Parks Fishery and banked several good doubles including this fine Catfish of 29lbs dead which had seized his halibut pellet.

Catfish fed throughout the day and night and fish in the 20lbs to 30lbs range have been common. Halibut pellet has proved very effective with Catfish taking the bait freely as well as some specimen Carp!

Local rod Jim McCourt freelined a small worm during an evening session and took several Cats to low twentys.

The upper Match Lake saw anglers enjoying plentiful sport with Carp and Silvers coming to the bank in numbers.

Once again dam wall pegs fished well with bags around the 100lbs mark being reported.

The margins held some lovely fish with Carp to 11lbs taken from within 3 feet of the bank in 18 inches of water!

Bream continued to feed throughout most anglers sessions with some reporting being “plagued” by them. 

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 1/9

Plenty of Catfish continued to come to the net at Town Parks Fishery this week.

Bournemouth rod Andrew Ball fished from peg 10 and hooked a beauty of 35lbs 2oz, his very first Cat. Halibut pellet tipped with pop up sweetcorn and offered towards the main island did the trick.

Shaun Lamble continued his recent run of fish with two good Cat’s of 29lbs dead and 23lbs 8oz, again Halibut pellet proved successful!

Daniel Hall fished pellet in the margins from peg 12 and hooked his personal best Catfish of 28lbs 4oz and followed that with another of 25lbs 2oz!

Les Hutchings banked a fine condition Mirror of 23lbs 8oz after offering pellet under the willow tree adjacent to peg 1.

Exeter rod Les Hutchings fished halibut pellet under the willow tree adjacent to peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery and was rewarded with this fine Mirror Carp of 23lbs 8oz!

Matt Skelly visited peg 9 for a short session and banked several Catfish to low twenty’s and a fine Platinum Ghost Carp in the mid twenty’s.

Generally the Specimen Lake has fished very well and, with fine weather expected to continue the outlook is excellent!

The top Match Lake has also fished well with anglers reporting great sport from most pegs.

Carp continued to fall to pellet offered from the Dam Wall pegs.

Roddy Metcalfe took over twelve fish per visit with bags to the 130lbs mark not uncommon!

Bream fed most of the time with anglers, covered with the statutory slime, reporting some large bags after experiencing frantic sport!

Roach and Rudd are still falling to maggot or castor offered up in the water again some very large bags have been reported!
