Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 26/5

Some excellent fish came to the net at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake was very productive with anglers taking fish from both shallow and deep water pegs.

Mark Warren banked a beautiful Ghost Carp during a session from peg 10. Warren’s fish fell to a sticky toffee boilie offered mid water and tipped the scales at 24lbs 8oz.

Town Parks Fishery regular Mark Warren offered a sticky toffee boilie from peg 10 to tempt this superb specimen Ghost Carp of 24lbs 8oz!

Meanwhile on peg 1, Plymouth fireman Steve Wright netted a nice Mirror Carp of 20lbs 8oz which took a Cell boilie offered close to the main island.

Plympton fireman Steve Wright banked this fine Mirror Carp of 20lbs 8oz from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a Cell boilie offered close to the main island.

Toby Harvey banked three good doubles from peg 5 while Chris Southern also banked three Carp, this time from peg 14, the best 21lbs 9oz.

Catfish have also been on the bank. Several 20lbs plus fish were reported from various pegs including peg 12 which saw Bristol rod Steve Mills taking two Cat’s to 22lbs 4oz on worm!

Good sized Tench have also fallen to boilies offered for Carp, best this week a good 7lbs 6oz!

The top Match Lake also saw anglers enjoying good sport.

During the sunnier days Carp fell to pellet and maggot offered tight in the margins, especially around pegs 1 and 20 and 14 and 15!

Rod Metcalf did connect with plenty of large Carp, the best, an impressive 15lbs 8oz which was moved to the Specimen Lake.

Local rod Andy Malley had a frantic session on peg 3 banking 14 Carp including some nice Ghostie’s to double figures. All Malley’s fish fell to small white chocolate boilies offered near the island.


Silvers are still falling to maggot offered up in the water with some medium to large bags reported.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 19/5


Fish continued to come to the net at Town Parks Fishery this week. The Specimen Lake saw anglers enjoying the sport from most pegs.

Darren Baldwin enjoyed a great session from peg 15. Baldwin banked a good Leather Carp of 18lbs 3oz but shortly afterwards his alarms screamed off and after a long battle a large Catfish came to the net. Baldwins scales immediately “bottomed” out at 28lbs! After recasting his luncheon meat bait, the alarms screamed off again. This time Baldwin netted an even larger Cat, estimated in the 40lbs range!

Lee Mills had a good session from peg 2 fishing towards the main island. Mills banked five fish, the best a nice Common of 17lbs 14oz, all falling to sweetcorn.

Paul Winstanley netted his personal best Tench, a fine 8lbs 2oz and also his personal best Bream of 5lbs 8oz from peg 5! Winstanleys haul also included four Carp, the best a good Common of 17lbs 3oz, which fell for a Cell boilie as did all the other fish!

Torquay rod Paul Winstanley claimed two new personal best’s at Town Parks Fishery. Winstanley fished from peg 5 and banked this fine Tench of 8lbs 2oz and also took a PB Bream of 5lbs 8oz. Also taken were four Carp to 17lbs 3oz all falling to Cell boilies!

Scott Beer enjoyed his first session at the Fishery. Beer chose peg 2 and soon connected with his first ever Catfish which tipped the scales at a very respectable 20lbs 2oz.

Plenty of Catfish, too many to list individually, came to the bank mainly falling to worm, luncheon meat of halibut pellet!

Toby Harvey took two Cats to 15lbs as well as three Carp to 13lbs 3oz and a nice Tench of 6lbs 6oz all from peg 15.

On the top Match Lake, Carp continued to fall to pellet offered mid water.

Roddy Metcalf fished the dam wall on several occasions taking Carp on each visit up to 12 at a time.

Peg 14 saw several anglers reporting frantic sport near the outflow with up to 35 Carp taken during a single session!

Excellent nets of Silvers have been taken from most pegs. Bags to near 100lbs have been taken with the fish falling to maggot and castor offered up in the water.

Some nice Tench have taken various baits in the shallower pegs near the inflow.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 12/5


Carp and Catfish continued to provide excellent sport at Town Parks Fishery again this week.

Some fantastic battles were reported to get the fish to the bank with some unlucky anglers loosing huge fish, especially Catfish, at the net! The Cats fed readily taking a variety of baits offered in the margins and Carp, yet to spawn continued to feed up ready for the fun!!!

Three good Cats to 28lbs 14oz were banked during an evening session from peg 3 by Tris Green with luncheon meat luring the fish!

Peg 7 has seen plenty of action since the silt trap was dug out and the waterfall was reinstated.

Having never caught a fish at Town Parks Fishery during day sessions local rod Ian Connabeer chose the peg for a 24hrs stint. Connabeer was rewarded with some eight fish including Carp, Catfish and a nice Tench. Best of the bunch a cracking Carp of 20lbs 1oz!

Having blanked during several day sessions at Town Parks Fishery Ian Connabeer decided to fish a 24hr session from peg 7. Connabeer was soon into the fish and by the end had netted 8 fish, Catfish, Carp and a good Tench of 5lbs 8oz. Best fish of the session was this fine 20lbs 1oz Common. 

Meanwhile on peg 6 Ian’s son John banked three high teen Carp within an hour and a half of arriving but despite banking one more Carp he was beaten by dad!

Larry Newman also had a good session on 13 taking six fish on pineapple pop up’s, the best a good Carp of 22lbs 8oz.

Suzie Young banked a cracking Common from peg 1 which tipped the scales at 16lbs 1oz.

Town Parks Fishery regular Suzie Young had a great session from peg 1 taking this fine Common of 16lbs 1oz which fell to a Cell boilie with a pop up pineapple boilie above! Suzie also lost a big Catfish during an extended battle!

Plymouth rod Rick Jenkins fished overnight from peg 6 and banked a beautifully scaled Carp of 21lbs 2oz and a good Cat of 21lbs dead! The Carp fell to a pink pop up whilst the Cat took peperami!

Tyson Norton had a frantic evening session fishing from peg 15. Norton banked five fish, Cats and Carp, during very wet and windy weather, the best a fine Carp of 22lbs 10oz!

Tyson Norton fished an evening session from peg 16 at Town Parks Fishery during wet and windy weather. Norton was rewarded with five fish, the best this lovely condition Common of 22lbs 10oz!

Some big Bream to the 10lbs mark have also taken boilie baits intended for Carp!

Rod Metcalf did an afternoon on peg 7 chasing the Silvers and took a huge bag of Roach and Rudd which all fell to single maggot offered around the four foot mark!

On the top Match Lake sport has also been good although the changeable weather conditions determined whether the fish were on the feed or not.

Rod Metcalf took good bags of Carp during several visits to the Dam wall.

Welsh rod Gavin Stroud fished a day session from peg 1 and had an excellent bag of Carp (11 fish) as well as some good sized Bream to the 4lbs mark!

Silvers continue to fall for maggot and castor and some good 60lbs plus bags are still being reported.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 5/5


Catfish continued to provide excellent sport on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery and some fine Carp also came to the net.

Dale Churchill banked this fine condition 16lbs 2oz Mirror after it fell to a Passion Baits boilie offered mid water.

This 20lbs 8oz Mirror Carp fell to Kipper boilie offered by Darryl Andrews form peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery.

Kingsbridge rod Richard Clarkson banked a good Catfish of 24lbs 6oz which was swiftly followed to the net by a superb Mirror Carp of 26lbs 9oz! Clarkson fished peg 10 with squid boilies.

Kevin Lock took 8 fish from peg 14 including 3 Catfish and a fine Common of 23lbs 3oz all of which fell to a pineapple pop up!

This fine 23lbs 3oz Common was taken by Kevin Lock form peg 15 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish, one of eight taken overnight fell to a pineapple boilie!

Newton rod Steve Owen netted Carp and Catfish from peg 9, the best a Cat of 25lbs 6oz!

Local rod Rob Boyne continued his run of fish with this lovely condition Mirror Carp which took a Cell boilie from peg 14 at Town Parks Fishery.

Regular Brenda Morrissey chose peg 6 for a spot of float fishing for Silvers. As the float dipped Morrissey hooked into, and banked a fine Common Carp of 16lbs 8oz. Not bad considering it was on 4lbs line and a size 16 hook!

Plymouth rods Matthew Green and Josh Fenwick banked six fish between them with Fenwick netting his first fish at the Fishery, best a 19lbs 1oz Cat.

Mark Warren lost what was described as a “massive” Catfish as did Dale Churchill after the fish ran around islands to snag the line and break free!

Plympton rod Gary Mills banked his first ever Catfish from peg 7, a superb fish of 30lbs 0oz, while Brixham rod Pete Lake took his first Town Parks Cat from peg 3!

On the top Match Lake sport was also good. On sunnier days the Carp could be seen “sunbathing” in shoals but some were tempted with floaters or bread. The margins fished particularly well with up to 35 Carp reported banked from pegs close to the reeds.

Pellet proved successful.

Bream continued to take maggot and corn from most pegs while maggot helped some anglers to take large bags to the 50lbs mark!
