Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 26/8


Despite changeable weather conditions good catches were made on both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The lower Specimen Lake produced plenty of Catfish action with some anglers taking multiple fish!

Regular Matt Feakes banked his personal best Cat which tipped the scales at 26lbs 2oz and fell to Halibut pellet! Feakes also took another six fish to 20lbs.

Local rod Matt Feakes fished a hectic session at Town Parks Fishery during which he banked his personal best Catfish of 26lbs 2oz which fell to halibut pellet.

Matt Feakes fished peg two at Town Parks Fishery and banked six fish including his personal best Catfish and this fine Common of 22lbs 3oz.
 
Local rod Tris Green banked six Cats fishing worm on the float around the three foot deep mark. Best of the bunch a good 21lbs 2oz!

Some nice Carp also came to the bank best reported a fine Common of 25lbs 3oz which fell to a Cell boilie offered in the margins of peg 14 by visitor Bruce Williams.

The upper Match Lake continued to provide excellent sport for regulars and visitors alike. Carp continued to fall for coarse pellet offered on the waggler with up to 25 fish per session reported!

Roach and Rudd were feeding well on maggot and castor with bags to the 100lbs mark taken from peg 1.

Some very nice Tench have continued to come to the bank particularly from the shallows. Local rod Malcolm Jones banking 3 fish, the best at 8lbs 3oz!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 19/8


Despite the unsettled weather conditions good sport was had on both Lakes at Town Parks Fishery.

The lower Specimen Lake saw many anglers banking their first Catfish or their personal bests!

Junior rod Flynn Darke pictured holding  a Catfish of 17lbs 12oz taken from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery.
 
Brixham rod Cameron Wilson took his personal best Mirror of 20lbs 4oz on a tutti frutti boilie fished mid water from peg 3, whilst fishing partner Jason Stride banked Mirrors of 20lbs 0oz and 15lbs 3oz on the same bait!

Torbay rod Clint Walker fished his first overnight session at the Fishery from peg 7 with baits placed close to the waterfall. Just as daylight started to show Walkers rod screamed off and after an “epic” battle a Catfish of 27lbs 2oz was on the bank.

Exeter rod Matt Green banked this beautiful Common Carp from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a Cell boilie offered mid water.
 
Cornwall rod Pete James visited peg 14 and was rewarded with two fine Commons which tipped the scales at 22lbs 3oz and 23lbs 6oz. Both fish fell to Cell boilies offered midwater during the early evening.

Tyson Norton chose peg 1 to test his new homemade coconut boilies and banked an incredible 12 fish during his 20 hour session. Having never banked a Catfish, Norton was over the moon to bank two, the best 17lbs 12oz. Some lovely Carp came to the net including a beautiful fully scaled, three Commons and seven Mirrors.

Local rod Flynn Darke pictured holding a beautiful fully scaled Carp which was taken from peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery. The fish fell to a homemade boilie fished towards the main island.

 Bream were also active at times with fish to 8lbs 4oz reported falling to worm!

The top Match Lake saw good action from most pegs with some decent Carp and Bream coming to the net. Carp to the 10lbs mark were taken from peg 10 and dam wall pegs produced fish of a similar size!

Several groups from South Dartmoor School enjoyed tutored sessions taking Roach, Rudd and Perch in numbers which fell to maggot offered up in the water.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 12/8


The continued hot weather saw anglers using different tactics to bank fish at Town Parks Fishery this week.

During the day fish continued to sunbathe with anglers floating bread or biscuit towards unsuspecting fish. As evening came, stalking worked well with several anglers reporting multiple catches from under and around overhanging bushes and trees.

During the night time hours baits fished on the bottom faired best with some decent fish coming to the scales.

On the Specimen Lake, Catfish came to the bank in numbers with up to nine fish reported in a single session.

Dave Todd had a good session on peg 8 taking a good Cat of 25lbs 3oz taken on CC Moores live system.

 Les Hutchings banked his first 20lbs + Carp taking a lovely Mirror from peg 11. Hutchings also took a 16lbs 1oz Common and a small Cat loosing a very large specimen Cat which ran down the bank towards shallower water before snapping off!

Jack Oakden has a shock whilst pole fishing for Bream from peg 1. After a few hours of banking good sized Bream, Oakdens Castor was snapped up by a Carp which ran him in all directions stretching his 8lbs elastic to its limits. After a 40 minute battle Oakden banked a lovely 16lbs 1oz Mirror – pretty remarkable as he was only fishing a one and a half pound hooklink!!

Torquay rod Gordon Batt choose peg 6 and was rewarded with a fine Tench of 9lbs 1oz and a Common of 19lbs 6oz! Both fish fell to maggot.

Kelsy Batt fished alongside dad Gordon taking a good bag of Roach on a whip and landing a fine Tench of 5lbs 3oz which had fallen to a Cell boilie offered mid water!

Little Kelsey Batt fished with dad Gordon from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery. After taking a good bag of Silvers she played and landed this fine Tench which had fallen for a Cell boilie offered mid water. The fish tipped the scales at 5lbs 3oz.

The top Match Lake continued to provide lively sport for most anglers.

Silvers fell to Castor or Maggot offered shallow whilst the Bream took Corn and luncheon meat.

Carp came to pellet with holiday maker Jim Ryan reporting 35 fish to the 8lbs mark during an early evening session!

Regulars Conor Nettleton and Dan Boland fished two dam wall pegs and banked 62 Carp during a 24hr session. All the fish fell to pellet offered on the bottom.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 5/8


Good catches were reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week.

The lower Specimen Lake continued to produce Catfish in numbers with some fine fish banked. Matt Green fished overnight from peg 10 and took several Cat’s, the best 23lbs 4oz which fell for luncheon meat.

Exeter rod Matt Green fished an overnighter form peg 10 at Town Parks Fishery and banked this fine 23lbs 4oz Catfish which fell for luncheon meat offered mid water. The fish was on of several taken throughout the night.
 
Exeter Rod Dan Butterworth also took several Catfish which provided some excellent sport!

Carp came on and off the feed looking like they were readying themselves for spawning although as the cooler weather came in the fish returned to normal feed patterns.

Some Carp fell for dog biscuit floated on the surface during the day with Roger Black banking a fine Mirror of 21lbs 4oz.

Other Carp chose to feed on the bottom during the early morning or early evening with many fish banked during these times!

The top Match Lake saw large bags of Silvers and Carp coming to the net.

Rod Metcalf got the Carp feeding well on coarse pellet and banked 100lbs plus bags on several occasions.

The Fish-A-Thon in aid of the Firemans Benevolent Fund finished on Friday following a week of continuous fishing by Firemen Steve Wright and Kevin Carter.
The pair banked fish throughout the week alternating between the Specimen and Match Lakes to provide some variety.

Final weights will follow but the pair did bank 100’s of pounds worth of fish.

Hundreds of pounds of donated money has been raised with the final figure still awaited!

Steve and Kevin are already busy organising next years challenge which will hopefully see an inter emergency services match raising funds for their respective benevolent funds!
