Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 27/11

Testing times this week at Town Parks.

The match lake produced several bags of silvers for anglers choosing to fish the dam wall, the most popular baits being maggot, caster and sweetcorn fished into the island margins. Peg 20 produced approx 12lbs of silvers from a bait fished tight to the reed margins between pegs 1 and 20.

The specimen lake gave several anglers a few sleepless nights this week, with big carp jumping in the shallows and continuous line bites all through the night! Anglers reported many runs, but as soon as any pressure was applied, the fish ejected the bait.

With the weather expected to be turning more seasonal next week, the water temperature should come down and encourage the fish to feed more readily.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 20/11

This week saw the match lake produce several decent bags of silvers for some lucky anglers.

Peg 15 produced a very good bag of roach to worm and caster fished tight to the small island.

One of our younger anglers, Sammy, aged 9, had a very good session catching, among others, two common carp, the best approx 10lbs to maggot. Needless to say, he’ll be back very soon!

The Specimen lake produced five common carp, the best weighing in at 24lbs 1oz, for regular angler Dave Osman. Dave also caught four other fish of 17lbs 6oz, 17lbs 8oz, 19lbs, 6oz and 19lbs 2oz. All the fish fell to Signal Original boilies from peg 6.

Andy Handshaw visited peg 11 and took a common of 18.5lbs, followed by another of 14lbs. Both fish took a sweetcorn bait.

Peg 7 produced a 16.5lbs common, which fell to pellet fished in the margin.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 13/11

Testing times at Town Parks this week.

The match lake produced a decent net of carp for local angler Conon Nettleton who fished halibut pellets from peg 16 to produce 36 carp to 15lbs over a 24 hour session. Conor took the majority of his fish overnight and into the early hours, with little action during the hours of daylight.

The specimen lake produced a pristine common carp of 18.5lbs over the weekend for one lucky angler, but the recent change in temperature kept the majority of fish off the feed.

We've just received this report from a visiting angler, Kevin, who obviously enjoyed his visit!

Hi.

Myself and 2 family member's fished a 72hr session on the august bank holiday this year. I thought I'd email you really nice 17 & half lb kio carp i caught from the spec lake.

I caught it from peg 11, about 20/25 feet out in open water. It fell 2 a straight lead 4ft feet zig rig, with a 15mm white chocolate pop-up topped with fake yellow corn.

This was the only fish we manged to land, myself I lost around about 6/7 fish on the 2nd & 3rd night there. My cousin lost a few nice fish as well. but over all, all 3 of us enjoyed the visit and will be back next year for another go.

It looks like you enjoyed your session Kevin, thanks for the report and the pictures!

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 6/11

The match lake this week saw the completion of the training course that we have been running recently with all participants being awarded certificates of competence. (Photos to follow)
Several bags of silvers have been taken throughout the week, with peg 20 being the most productive.
Natural baits, again, proving to be popular.

The specimen lake produced two common carp from peg 11, one of 18.5, the other of 16.5. Both fish were taken on luncheon meat.
Peg 13 produced another common of 12.5lbs, and peg 16 took a very pretty mirror of 16lbs, which fell to a coconut boilie.

Have you visited Town Parks recently? Any pictures of your catch? If you do have any pictures of your catch and would like them included here, just send them to me with as many details as you have, and I'll do my best to include them here!
