Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 22/5


Testing fishing conditions on the Specimen Lake at Town Parks produced few catches of note this week.

Catfish continued to fall to Luncheon meat and worm baits with plenty of fish coming to the bank.
Visitor Brian Down fished meat tight to the margins around peg 12 and was rewarded with four Catfish, the best a fine 27lbs 12oz!

On peg 5 Steve Delaney took his first ever Cat at 19lbs 8oz.

Carp were somewhat elusive and hesitant to feed after some had spawned a week or so ago whilst some have still to perform!
Lancashire rod Colin Alford fished a 24hr session from peg 15 fishing Cell boilies mid water.
Alford was rewarded with two Carp, a Common of 21lbs 3oz and a nice fully scaled Mirror of 20lbs 1oz, and a single Catfish, his first, of 18lbs 10oz.

Dave Osmond was in form on peg 6 banking six Carp, four twenty pound plus, during short sessions.

On the top Match Lake good bags were reported.

Carp continued to feed in the deeper water. Duncan Arnold fished an overnighter with sons Harrison and Jack and banked over twenty fish the best around the 10lbs mark!
Silvers were on the feed up in the water from most pegs maggot proving effective.

The Fishery is open all over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 15/5


Sporadic feeding kept anglers busy at Town Parks Fishery this week.
Whilst some pegs fished well others required intensive watercraft to find the fish!
Dave Osmond was in the thick of the action again on the Specimen Lake taking 19 Carp from short sessions throughout the week. Osmond also banked a couple of Catfish, the best a respectable 28lbs 6oz. Most fish fell to Cell boilies whilst the Catfish took red maggot!

Dave Osmond continued his excellent run of catches at Town Parks Fishery banking this fine condition Ghost Carp of 23lbs 9oz.
 
Tyson Norton fished peg 1 with cousin Flynn Darke taking 6 Carp in 7 hours!
Flynn banked his first ever Carp followed by two more, the best a fine 14lbs 1oz!

Junior Flynn Darke banked his first three Carp form peg 1 at Town Parks Fishery. Best of the bunch a fine Common of 14lbs 1oz.
 
All the fish came to baits offered tight to the right side of the main island.
Weston Super Mare rod Brian Sachs had an excellent session banking four Carp and breaking his personal best twice. Sachs’s second fish was a beautiful fully scaled Carp of 22lbs 4oz breaking his PB by over 2lbs. More than happy he continued fishing and eventually banked another PB of 23lbs 1oz!
All fish fell to homemade tuna boilies offered mid water from peg15.

The upper Match Lake continued to improve after the recent spawning and some very good mixed bags were taken.
Carp came to the bank from most pegs particularly the dam wall and pegs 8 to 14.

A fine bag of 9 Carp falling to regular Dave Osmond was the highlight of the week at Town Parks Fishery.
Osmond’s haul from peg 6 on the Specimen Lake included five 20lb plus fish the best a fine Common which tipped the scales at 27lbs 8oz!
Cell boilies offered mid water or cast tight to the small island produced the goods!

Regular Dave Osmond banked this fine 27lbs 8oz Common Carp, from peg 6 at Town Parks Fishery, The fish fell to Cell boilies fished to the front of the peg and was one of 9 Carp, five over 20lbs!

 Big Catfish have been moving around the lake, three anglers having their hooks snapped or straightened as the fish fought to snap off. One Catfish hooked in the shallows around peg 5 was estimated to be in the 50lb class by the crowd that had gathered but the hook snapped just as the fish was being netted!

Leicester rod Josh Greene visited peg 14 for a 24hr session and was quickly into the fish banking three Carp to 20lbs 4oz within 2 hours! Greene took 7 fish including a good Catfish of 25lbs 6oz most falling to luncheon meat.

On the top Match Lake fishing picked up after the recent spawning. Plenty of Silvers came to the bank as did Skimmers and large Bream.
Carp continued to show especially along the dam wall where Rod Metcalf once again showed everyone how to do it taking 18 Carp to 12lbs in 3 hours.
Coarse pellet fished shallow proving very effective!

Town Parks Fishing Catch Report w/e 24/4


An “eggcellent” week of catches was reported from both lakes at Town Parks Fishery this week!
The Fishery’s pegs were full for most of the time with anglers enjoying the warm sunny weather and great sport.
So many fish were banked it is impossible to mention everybody’s catches but some of the highlights follow!

The top Match Lake continued to produce very good bags for anglers prepared to work for them!
Carp came to the bank in numbers, 44 in four and a half hours for Rob Metcalf in peg 16!!!
Timing was important with early morning and late afternoon sessions producing the goods.
Roach and Rudd were in abundance whilst Ron Powell took over 50lb of Skimmers from peg 15.

On the lower Specimen Lake Chris Wilson fished peg 10 with great results. Ten Carp to 26lbs 8oz came to the bank, many of the fish falling to luncheon meat offered towards the islands or pop up boilies fished mid water.    
Catfish were feeding well falling to halibut pellet or luncheon meat baits.
Match Lake angler Colin Parnell decided to fish his first session on the Specimen Lake and was rewarded with two Carp, a 17lbs 2oz Common and a 15lbs 3oz Mirror which came to the bank at the same time, one on each of Parnell’s rods!!

Match angler Colin Parnell visited the Specimen Lake at Town Parks Fishery for the first time and was rewarded with two Carp on the bank at the same time after both rods screamed off! The best fish a fine Common of 17lbs 2oz.

 Meanwhile regular Matt Feakes took five fish including his personal best from peg 2.

Regular Matt Feakes banked five Carp including his personal best 23lbs 1oz at Town Parks Fishery. All fish fell to luncheon meat offered mid water from peg 2.
 
 The recent good catches are expected to continue with no sign of the fish spawning yet although the water temperature is slowly creeping up.

Town Parks Fishery Catch Report w/e 17/4

 Another week of great catches produced plenty of personal best’s at Town Parks Fishery.
The Specimen Lake saw multiple catches for anglers doing their watercraft.
Plenty of Catfish came to the bank, for many their first taste of the power of these fine specimens!
Most fish came to the bank on halibut pellet or baits tipped with sweetcorn!
Local rod Pete Marriot took six fish from peg 12, the best a fine personal best Mirror of 24lbs 1oz. All Marriot’s fish fell to spicy sweet boilies offered tight to the margins.
First time visitor Plymouth rod Carl Chappell chose peg 10 for a 24 hour session. During the night Chappell banked a fine PB 24lbs 8oz Mirror which fell to a squid and octopus pop up.
Newquay angler Chris Bothamley plumped for peg 7 for his first visit to the Fishery and was rewarded with a PB Mirror Carp of 24lbs 4oz and Commons of 19lbs 4oz and 18lbs 3oz.
Stoke Fleming anglers Jai and Emily Prettyjohns fished peg 10 in very hot conditions with Jai banking three Carp and a Catfish to 18lbs 2oz whilst Emily took her first Catfish of 17lbs 1oz.
Jai’s homemade fishmeal boilies proved effective.

Regular Mick Plastow again visited peg 4 and took a fine 9lbs 2oz Tench which fell to float fished red maggot!

The Fishery’s Match Lake tuition days proved very popular with both sessions sold out!
Roach, Rudd and Carp continued to produce great sport for the juniors, most of whom were attending for their first visit.

Once again Rob Metcalf nipped in for a quick early session eventually ending up with 34 Carp to 7lbs in three and a half hours!! All fish fell to a carp splasher float fished shallow with coarse pellet continually fired out to the edge of the swim.
Carp have been taken in numbers from most pegs. During the sunnier days some have been taken on the surface with biscuit.
